Johnny Rubal Passes

If you remember anything of Johnstown radio in the sixties, then John Rubal comes to your memory. Johnny was primarily a drive time jock at WCRO which was a pure T-40 station back when radio was worth listening to. Quite frankly, I hated the guy! I was controlled by jealousy and anger, because I was so-o-o-o-o immature and so-o-o-o-o jealous that Johnny was such a big star in Johnstown radio. I was just a teenager then and I eventually did mature and came to respect those guys who became legends at 'CRO. It was a humbling experience to sit in that studio and do my shift at exactly the same spot that pro's like Johnny and many others sat. His voice was fantastic. His delivery was first class. Johnny became more and more interested in business and industry eventually making that area his life's work. Many of us will never, ever forget however, the impact Johnny Rubal made in Johnstown. Everybody and I mean EVERYBODY, listened to him.

The full obituary can be seen at the "Tribune-Democrat" website. Johnny died at the age of 73 in Nevada.
