Johnny Wendell (Angel), Tom Oliphant auditioning for KTLK

Two Boston related names have been auditioning for a weekday slot at KTLK in L.A. (prog talk):
Johnny Wendell, aka Johnny Angel (former rocker) and former Globie Tom Oliphant ("Tom Sycophant"
is Howie's nickname for him) according to http://ltradio.blogspot.com
Johnny Wendell may have been doing some fill-ins around here in the past yr or two.

Johnny's myspace http://www.myspace.com/johnnywendell
was in The Thrills, Swinging Erudites, Blackjacks. Swinging E's were a novelty-rock band:
"Living On My Hair" (Bon Jovi spoof), "Walk With An Erection", and a version of "Yesterday"
that went from bluegrass to reggae to punk to...

He's occasionally been on Feinburg's weekend national show. I thought he was great. Quick, engaging, and entertaining. Lucky for LA.

Oliphant lives on a VA farm?
He and Michelle Malkin squared off one time on the "News Hour/PBS and I thought Michelle came very close to stroking out (ten sec. of dead air!) grossly overmatched against Tom.

Johnny Wendell used to have his own show in Los Angeles on the weekends on KFI. I used to listen to him when I lived out there and I thought he was a pretty good host.

Johnny Wendell can be heard on KTLK today and tomorrow (1/17 & 1/18) from 6:00pm to 10pm Boston time.

Better LA than in Boston.

No fool I, I have better things to do than endure that windbag.

No, I don't care that much about him or his show. He's sort of like the lefty Howie Carr---same bluster and bomb-throwing thing.

I prefer a little more information and a lot less personality, that kind of personality anyways.

I suspect that fieldmarshallcinque is really a fan and this is how he shows his love. You can bet if Johnny said "jump" FMC would ask "how high?"

Steven Tyler called you, Midge--said you should "dream on".

I hope for the best for Johnny, but I really don't want to have to hear him in Boston.

I missed that call, FMC. I was talking to the Mills Brothers. They wanted me to tell you "you always hurt the one you love."

I listened to a little of it yesterday--California term limits and Tom Cruise's career being over.

Perfect talk for an LA station. Good luck to him.

FMC, great point - how silly of Wendell to talk about issues of interest to the LA market when auditioning for a station in, where is it again??? hmmm, drawing a blank here... somewhere out west...... ;)

I love you Cinqi, but you're a bit of a dim bulb when it comes to understanding the radio business.

Can't I get a moment's peace here--get off my aching back!

I heard him--he's great, OK---but I would prefer to see a new wave of Brudnoys instead of a new wave of Savage's, lefty or not.
