Johnson, Parara & Parara: Fork Over Ten Grand!

From All Access:

"The FCC has jointly and severally fined DELROY JOHNSON, PAUL PARARA, and RICHARD PARARA $10,000 for operating a pirate FM transmitter on 97.5 FM in HYDE PARK and DORCHESTER, MA.

"The fine was issued after the three failed to respond to a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture issued on MARCH 8th."

Now waiting for the predictable lather-rinse-repeat comment from you-know-who...

This link lists all the dates and locations of interaction by the FCC with the illegal operators. It's pretty detailed.

Are these the folks that are "owning" and operating the station? Didn't Johnson work at WILD at one time? Who are the Parara's?

(Didn't they move to 87.x? ...or am I mixing them up with someone else?)

Oh yeah, it's them: http://www.radioworld.com/article/102284

Taken off weak signal 97.5 and put on stronger signal 87.7 . I LOVE IT !!!! FCC AT ITS BEST !!!

And all the non-commerical stations in town except, ERS, GBH and BUR would trade for the coverage area , right now of Hot 97.5 at 87.7 Mhz.

Hot 87.7 is here forever . Get use to it . There is nothing The FCC can do about it but give 87.7 a radio license.

Or until they put a digital TV channel there.

OR.... a legitimate applicant will apply for 87.7 or 87.9 for a non-commercial license and push that 87.74 pirate off the air. After all, Channels 5 and 6 may be slated for an extended FM band.

Oh Really? Why don't you take a look at what the FCC did to Radio NewYork international.

The FCC gave Alan Weiner a license for so much power that he is heard all over the world now. That's what happened to Radio New York International. Yes, they would like to license some of the pirates
and bring them into compliance.

Wrong...Alan Weiner had his illegal operation shut down, and facilities confiscated. Alan THEN decided he would try to operate legally. Like other pirates realized that the dial is full is New York and other places...and didn't have the money to buy a current license.

Alan then retreated to Monticello Maine (where there is lots of spectrum available!), and now runs a shortwave station that SELLS their time to groups that are so racistt and anti-semetic, that they would make Helen Thomas blush!

So, to review:

-Alan's illegal station got physically shut down and facilities confiscated.

-Alan then decided to try the legal route. And, then understood that you can't just stick a station in New York City.

-He retreated to Maine, where he SELLS airtime to anti-Semitic and racist people...under the guise of "free speech".

Yeah, let's all follow THAT example!

Since Alan is Jewish, those allegations of being anti-Jewish seem
preposterous. Anyway, this is off topic.
The point is that many of these Boston operators are minorities
and the government is now very sympathetic to seeing more minorities
obtain licenses. Yes, the government has lots of muscle to handle
pirates if they want to.
Anyway, this is just radio!!!!!!!!!

There's a joke in there somewhere dealing with Jews and money....but sobriety prevents me from making it :)

If he runs a brokered shop, and needs the dough, he'd take it. It's either that, or it cannot sustain itself.

And before anyone says anything, I am Jewish...either that or the rabbi at my bris was just some ZZ Top impersonator with a weird fetish.

I didn't say Alan was anti-Jewish. He's a "free speecher" and will sell to anyone that pays the bill. And yes, he sold time to the (in)famous Hal Turner.

If they want to operate legally...then go for it!

But one thing for sure...they won't get a license for the facilities they are running now.
