I can't find anything anywhere about where JoJo went. He's an old friend, so I'm hoping someone can pick up the story for me.

I worked with him at his next stop, KSLQ in St. Louis. I did listen to him on WSGN before I went to St. Louis- knew him before working with him. Always was in awe of the guy.Charles1 said:I listened to him when he was known as Amesa Kincaid back in the '70's on WSGN in Birmingham. Man, what a talent!
That would kind of surprise me- he loves it here in California, unless something has changed that recently.BossRadioDJ said:I heard last week that it's a matter of being time to move on. He's moving to Florida to concentrate on voiceover work.

Just to be clear, I meant that as an expression of surprise, not doubting what your (clearly correct) info was. I've seen a bunch of your stuff here, and you're pretty much on target when I've seen you post.BossRadioDJ said:beachguy3b said:That would kind of surprise me- he loves it here in California, unless something has changed that recently.
Based on the source that provided me with the information, I'm going to stand by what I posted.

Bowler Bob in Brisbane said:Most people in the Bay Area know me as a regular caller to the sports talk shows on KNBR, and ocassionally I'll drop in a call to Steven Seaweed during the "Hot Lunch" segment of his show on 107.7 the Bone (KSAN).
But what I've really always wanted to do was host an Oldies/Classic Rock formatted radio show here in the Bay Area, where I've lived all of my life.
Being 54 years old, I've grown up on the KFRC/KYA/KMPX/KSAN music of the 60's & 70's, and still have all of the albums and 45's that I bought from 1967 to the present.
I currently have been DJ'ing live in the Poster Room Lounge @ the Fillmore once a month since 2002, playing my vinyl records.
The more I read and hear about how much these musical genres are dying on the radio, mixed with all of the jocks being let go, I think I'll just stick to DJ'ing live and continue to dream about a career in radio, which seems to be a dying art form.
I appreciate every single one of you for your contributions to radio as an art form, rather than a way to sell advertising.
In the immortal words of Pete Townshend... "Long live rock!"
Cheers!

Nope. Try this list: Paul Schaefer (sp), Bill Drake, Gene Chenault, Jim Schulke, Marlin Taylor, Ed Peters, Steve Trivers, Darryl Peters, etc. All from the 60's and 70's, not today.
(Redstone has likely never discussed voice tracking. He got into radio because he wanted the CBS TV net and related assets. To say he has been "instrumental" in automating is absurd.)
SFStatic said:It wasn't so great when the fool time announce carts (2, one for even minutes, one for odd) got off...and you had to cue through all the minutes and hours to get back in sync! Automation in the 60's worked ok, a lot of the time, but there were some pretty funny train wrecks, too. The ironic thing about voice tracking is that it still sounds best when a good board op matches the track and the music and elements up perfectly...either ahead of time, or in real time. Most of the systems really can't duplicate a good board op or air personality with good skills.
