JoJo's Back on Q100 . . . Again

JoJo Morales was the first voice ever heard on Q100 in 2001 and was also the first afternoon drive jock. He left during budget cuts after a year or so and did weekend work on WMMR in Philly and Z100 in New York. Then he came back to Q100 for weekends and fill-in. Then JoJo moved to Star 94 for weekends.

Here on Radio-Info, JoJo posted that he jumped at the opportunity to work at Star 94 because it was much more his lifestyle than Q100. I don't think he ever did another shift on Star after posting that; he seemed to be gone that weekend. But shortly thereafter, he was back on Z100 for weekends; this was about a year-and-a-half ago. Then about a month ago, JoJo disappeared from Q100.

I was in my car just after 3 and punched up Q. JoJo is back, even commenting that he's back after being gone when he first opened the mike.

JoJo is a talented guy, and I'm glad to hear him again . . . just surprised. I love intrigue.

Is the same guy who was on in San Diego in the late 80's? I think it was B100?

Is he VTing DC, here, or both?

Aw geez... Where do I begin. First, thanks for the props. Mucho appreciato.

Yeah, Q was a little too hip-hop for my tastes a couple years back and a bit of a stretch for someone my age (46) to relate to, so I did jump to Star 94 when the opportunity presented itself. Who wouldn't want more than one legendary Atlanta station on their resume?

Because I've been earning the bulk of my pay in the Northeast for the past several years, I traditionally spend the summer in NJ so my family can visit with the grandparents.

Last summer started off with the sudden and tragic death of my 21 year old nephew on memorial day weekend, so I had to make a fast break out of town to be with my brother and his family. By the time I was able to return it was the start of summer vaca in NJ and I advised the powers at Star I'd be unavailable for 6 weeks. I tought I would be back at Star upon my return, but they needed to cover their bases and hired a replacement partimer. Right about the same time Q was in need of a weekender so I returned.

As I'm sure you're aware, Q100 is musically a dramatically different radio station than it was 2 years ago. I am thrilled to be back, and they are accommodating to my summer schedule. It's a fit now and I'm really enoying myself.

As for XM, I'm holding down 6-midnight on 80's on 8. I do my entire shift LIVE Mon-Fri. This week I'm doing noon-6, but back to normal sched next week.

Again, thanks for the kind words. Means a lot. :-D

Forgot the San Diego question.

No, That was JoJo Kincaid and the station was KKLQ (Q106).

I was actually named for him and Mucho Morales by Steve Kngston when I was hired at Z100 in 1988. My first job in radio was as JoJo's intern at Y-100 Miami, 1977.

Mr. Kincaid is now doing PM Drive at San Francisco's 95.7, The Wolf, doing country and as cookin' as ever!

Thanks for the update, Jojo. It's awesome that you're one of the few "good ones" that's still got a good career going.
