The point I was trying to make was that Timmer would blow a deal by insisting on some small point of it. I can see reasons why Imus would keep the "interesting" lineup that you suggest and I can see reasons why he wouldn't.
Let's really think about this though. If you are Don Imus, do YOU call regarding the station or do you have an attorney or "representative" call representing "someone interested in buying the station"? Imus has gone off the public radar and wouldn't be likely to surface through a phone call about buying an AM day-timer. Second, what Imus would really be after here would be the license. HE would be broadcasting from some remote studio - most likely at his home - and it is entirely possible that from that point he wouldn't care what the rest of the lineup would be like since he would then have a forum and a starting station to launch his own syndication. Which leads us to the next point. Imus would likely either simply do his own show on satellite or look to set up some sort of syndication situation with "like minded" broadcasters.
Don't get me wrong. I REALLY hope this story is true and having Imus come back to radio whether at GPA or anywhere else would be awesome. I just see some holes in it that are hard to ignore. On the other hand, I do know of somebody local who has often considered approaching Timmer about buying the station and mentioned it to me again a couple weeks ago. Yes, this person would have the money - easily - and has ties to broadcasting in this area in the past.
Anyway, again, I really hope that Imus surfaces soon, but my guess would be it will be on satellite.
