Jon Justice raising $$$

From a 104.1 Myspace bulletin:

City Hall is in a battle with the Police Union as we are short 30% of our TPD officers. The listeners are outraged that the local government are doing nothing to get more officers on the street.

We had almost 300 law enforcement men and women join us this morning at a local Einstein Bros Bagels. The Tucson Police Assoc. President Larry Lopez took calls for three and half hours from listeners during the live broadcast.

The station collected over $3000.00 from listeners between 6a-9:30a for the family of Erik Hite. Einsteins Bagels is donating all of todays sales to the fund as well.

Pray for Erik Hites family and Thank a Cop the next time you see one.

Jon Justice

Wow! To me, this is the pinnacle of low-class -- to actually state how much money was raised at this event for the family. Maybe Journal could use some of the funds to buy a clue as how to handle Breaking News, as KGUN was completely schooled by KOLD, KVOA, and KMSB the day of the shootings.

Jon Justice makes me sick. His station's laughable ratings are well-deserved. Guess that's what happens when you have a jock play a talk host.

I guess TRE, has a different opinion on what good public service is and good radio.

Is this person the next Rodney King?

I think so. ;D

Stay tuned, as we break the story of the Tucson media protesting in earnest at TRE's place of employment.

Next on CNN. 8)

Bwahahahaha....what a crank. A guy does something for the local community and he is low class. ??? Sounds like sour grapes, Mr. 1 post TRE.

No, to me, he is low-class because he states precisely how much was raised. But, again, this to be expected of a talk host who can't even use his real last name on the air. Had David "Nick" Delich been an illegal alien, maybe "Justice" and his ilk would have raised $30,000.

KJLL beats KQTH 12+... Classic!!! ::)

You either can't read or lack basic comprehension skills.

And doesn't every fund raising effort mention the results of their efforts? I can't recall a fund raising drive that didn't give a tally of the donations at the end. People want to know...

What an odd thing to get upset about. One might think you had some other agenda and this isn't really about him raising money for a local family.... hmmmm.... why else throw in the 'former jock' comment and the dig about his real last name? How is that relevant?

Officer Hite's family is very private. That is why you are not going to see even a photo of them in the local media. How much they will be getting from any fundraising efforts should also be kept private. Or is that too logical for you?

I can't wait until the suits in Milwaukee pull the plug for good. ;D The clock is ticking, and the bell will surely toll.

So this is all about respect for the family and not really about how much you hate Jon? I have a hard time believing that...

So I assume you're just as upset about John Jay and Rich using this family to promote a car giveaway and treating them like just another contestant in their little contest?

Bwahahahaha... Yes, I can see the conversation now...

"So, one of our local hosts just raised a bunch of money for the family of a fallen officer, and had hundreds of fellow officers out at a broadcast. And he told his audience how much they raised."

"OH MY GOD HOW TERRIBLE - CANCEL THE SHOW AND CHANGE THE FORMAT OF THE STATION NOW! WE CAN'T HAVE THIS SORT OF PUBLICITY!"

:D

Ya know KVOA-4 had released the numbers last night... Plus aired 911 tapes and interviewed emergency/dispatch operators.

It's now the standard for the news business.. "provide the proof" Thanks CNN.

As for Jon - It was the right thing to do for the listeners to maintain accountability. This is "Talk Radio" not "beautiful music".

I have never heard or seen of a case where the amount of publically raised money was kept a secret, private recipients or not. The family can spend the donations in private, that is their right. But this is a public story, of a public servant, being fatally injured while serving the public. That the public raised funds in support of Officer Hite's survivors is a public story. I'm not a fan of "Jon Justice" but what he did here appears to be good and proper, and therefor does not deserve to have somebody taking a shot at him for this. That act actually seems "low class" in my mind...

What a bunch of lightweights...

Apologists for the same "Jon Justice" who led a protest against TPD at their H.Q. a few short months ago - for merely doing their DUTY! To me, an indication of the jock's intelllectiual dishonesty.

104.1 is going to make a great Reggaeton station! ¿Qué, no? Better brush up on your Spanish KQTH'ers. Jajaja! :D

Enforcer,

I live eat and breathe radio, and information. Maybe you don't know the issues?

Try this prospective...would you protest Clear Channel if Lotus paid Phoenix scale in Tucson, and you worked for CC?

If I were a betting man, (and I am) I bet you would say something somewhere. Now, magnify that times one or two thousand. Agree or disagree, that's the effect that Tucson's FOP members have delivered.

Sure they come off as whiners, but would you climb a AM tower to change a lightbulb if you were not being paid to do it?

Think real hard before answering.

I apologize to the others, for the somewhat "Off Topic" post.

No that was John Michael. I was on with John Michael when it was the John and Jon Show in 99-2000. When I left Frank replaced me, then John Michael left for Cincy andthen eventually landed in Los Angeles.

BTW: The Real Enforcer is obviously a HUGE fan of the show as he had so much insightful information. I feel kind of bad that I made him sick however, hate to do that to anyone.
