Jon Miller

Jon Miller and Joe Morgan will not be the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team. Does anyone know ESPN's reasoning?

I'm guessing cost-cutting. Miller & Morgan only do baseball. They probably want to stick with announcers who can do more than one sport.

Of course, what does that mean for football guys like Ron Jaworski, John Gruden, and Lee Corso, or the basketball-centric Dick Vitale and Bobby Knight? Will they be gone after this season as well?

Their replacements are rumored to be Dan Shulman and Orel Herscheiser, which would be excellent choices.

Miller may stay on, but on ESPN Radio only. He also has his SF Giants gig. Don't know what else Morgan has going on outside of ESPN, if anything.

Because he's the radio voice of the World Champ SF Giants, I doubt ESPN will even keep Miller around even for Radio. Why? No point in it when they've got other announcers who are just as capable as Miller is.

Afterall, didn't they let Gary Thorne go to the O's & MASN for many of the same reasons? Me thinks so.....

Cheers :D

ESPN to Jon Miller: "Hey Jon, Congratulations on being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Congrats on the Giants winning the World Series. You have had an outstanding year, Oh and by the way...you're fired!"

MLB Network and regional cable. They won't be out of work long, they'll just being doing so without Disney dollars.

Jon Miller would be a natural fit for TBS' baseball coverage. Lately, The load was carried this past season by Ernie Johnson, Dick Stockton, & Brian Anderson-As those three sportscasters replaced Chip Caray, who went on to do The Braves Exclusively on SportsSouth & FSAtlanta. TBS wanted somebody permanent, and they might found somebody in Baseball Hall of Famer Jon Miller...

I'm hearing it will be Joe Torre, and not Orel Hershiser, joining Dan Schulman in the booth...

And the current incarnation of SportSouth was formerly known as Turner South. ;D
