He died last week at age 57. Was he still a radio owner at the time of his death? If so any idea what will happen to the station(s) he owned?

Bought WXLW from Hood for 2.5 mil, didn't get the tower site. Same day Hood bought tower site for 1.5 mil.(to Lease it back at 5k a month) Hood paid 750,000 for the station. Shirk bought it from Lyman S. Ayres.

WFDM still owned by Hood? LMA with option to buy for 6 million. (Time to redo this deal to a reasonable amount given the sale of 1.5 WKLU which has a signal in Indy).

I couldn't afford to eat at Byrd's Cafeteria on a regular basis because it cost too much. Enjoyed it when I did. His Legacy will be the Cafeteria and not the radio station ala Lyman Ayres. (L.S. Ayres)

Strange thing on the reporting of the death. IndyStar reported it first and it didn't make it to the tv stations until later, much later.

Condolences to the family. Much too young an age to die. The acknowldgement he is in a better place is the ultimate reconciliation for the byrd family. Blessings.

Very sad.
I didn't know the full extent of his charity work until I read the obit. What a big heart he had!!
Wonder if 950 will survive. "studios" are still near me in Franklin AFAIK.

The station purchase was done by his son, after his stroke. I'd like to think that Dad was proud of what I tried to accomplish with WXLW. Thank you for the kind words and condolences.
