All Access reports that Rush heads from NOK to COS. He will continue doing mornings. How long was he at NOK? Seems like 20 years at least.

More than that. He was doing mornings when I was a USC Freshman 20 years ago.

I'm at a loss for words about the move. J.R. is a pop radio institution in this town and belongs on NOK.

WNOK will only have 1 local jock on now? (Kelly Nash from 10am-12pm) So, Ace & TJ Mornings, Ryan Seacrest Afternoons, and CJ (from WIBT Charlotte) nights. Wow, I guess I cant really say I'm surprised anymore.

Hey Dude Fan, I think it has been more like 25 years and I agree, he needs to say with NOK. I cannot believe that they are messing with an institution in CHR here in Columbia. I really think that the programming that they are doing really sucks. I might could see Ace and TJ, but not Ryan Secrest in the afternoons. Leave it to Clear Channel to pull something like that here and NOK was doing well in the market too.

I'm thinking it was around 1987 or 88 when JR signed on at WNOK. I was at C103. After CC showed Dees the door a couple of years ago, I knew it was only a matter of time. I can only say two things: #1...Clear Channel doesn't deserve Jonathan Rush and, #2...it's the end of an era.

Shame on you, Clear Channel. You make the claim to be all about the community and your employees, but your actions put the lie to that claim.

Stunning. Not to mention, the country audience wants a country personality. That's not Jonathan's thing and the audience knows he comes from Hit Radio. Unbelievable. This smells of "How can we get rid of a big salary without making it look like our fault". Same for Charlie. Make two high paid guys miserable so they will leave.

My question is what are they going to do with Charlie James too? I know that he has been at WCOS or nearly 10 years now and it is quite obvious that they are killing New 92 and I am sure that is all around.
I think that Clear Channel should be very ashamed of what they are doing here and I am having trouble seeing Jonathan Rush as a country announcer.

And Kelly Nash may be the only "local" jock left...but after the enormous voicetracking blunder I heard this morning ("Viva La Vida" playing over "Bleeding Love") "local" means nothing unless it is live. But I guess I'm one of those dinosaurs that still believes in live radio.

The sad part is that 15 years ago, you would have needed a banquet hall to have a gathering of on-air folks in this town. Now, we can fit everybody in our 400 square foot studio...

This sucks , although many of us on this board knew it was only a matter of time before Jonathan Rush was either dismissed or move to another CC station to finish out his contract :(.

I do remember when Rush first came to WNOK from WZZU/Raleigh-Durham in September of 1987. He was chosen to be the replacement for Leo Windham after he left for WZLD. I believe both Pandora Reynolds and (I think) Mark Plemmons (both holdovers of the "K-Team Morning Zoo" era) were there in the beginning. (Didn't "Cellular" Sammy Owens start around this time as well?)

Jonathan and Pandora did a TV spot later that fall introducing "The Morning Rush". I don't remember much of Jonathan's dialog but this spot featured Pandora's clothes suddenly removed, exposing a Vanna White-like dress underneath and someone who was supposed to represent then-middayer Jeff McQue "dropping in" behind the two of them when Jonathan mentioned Jeff's show.

Damn, I getting old.

Dang Robin, you are right on the money. I had forgotten the advertisement, but you are correct about the Morning Zoo holdovers and you are also correct about Cellular Sammy as well. I really hate that this is happening and Clear Channel is yet again ruining another great radio station.

All I can say is WOW!!! Nothing shocks me anymore from the mindset of Clear Channel!!! Let me get this correct you take a morning show that has done very well in the ratings and billing only to bring in Ace & TJ!!!!! what a freaking joke..... Let me say that I really like Ace & TJ, but JR was Columbia morning radio and taking him away from something that he has been involved with just amazes me. Maybe there is more to the story and that is why WCOS got that nice 4.2 for it's trend!!!!! Who would have thought COS wayyyyyy below a five share!!! That is just amazing! Leave it to the braintrust at CC Columbia to screw great radio up even more... JR was "Hit Music"!!! I remember listening to him even back in the WANS and Z100 days in Charlotte... Good luck to ya JR and I hope that you can make it out of the Clear Channel Sinking Ship!!! CC1

As long as Kid Rock doesn't show up, that is...

lol. Steve, with humor like that, it's little wonder thousands of comedians are out of work collecting unemployment. (btw, sorry about the draft)
