KFIN was a great station. But, in my opinion, it was great because it had direction and everything that went on the air had a purpose. To move listeners from daypart to daypart. To make them believe they just heard someone win a great prize... even if it was from the day before. They were really good at reminding the listener of the good things on KFIN that listeners love about radio. They were also smart in the detail department. It wasn't Jim Frigo in the morning....it was Jim Frigo in the early morning. It was late afternoons with Michael Steele....these matched up to the terms in the diaries and it was by design. Details that helped educate the listener. Bass would have promos on air in minutes when other stations in town would wait hours or more to get them on air. Little things like "Your next chance to win at 2:20, plus bonus chances could be coming up in minutes!" I know these are all little things, but sometimes it's the little things that set one station apart from another. Tonight I heard a CC station in Ft. Smith just after 7p with a voicetracker giving the wrong calls and wrong area at the front end of the break and the correct calls at the end. It's the little things like knowing what station you are on and caring about that station. Not just going through the motions ,which is what most stations do these days. They are just going through the motions and we listeners can tell!
