Jonesy's Jukebox to return to Los Angeles radio

Makes sense, KROQ needed to add more specialty programming to their lineup to compete with Nikki Sixx's show and Joe Sib's show on 98-7. I am kind of shocked KLOS did not get to him first.

great news to have Jonsey back. He is one of a kind. Will be interesting to see how it works with KROQ. Weatherly gets twitchy when jocks stray from his plan, and there is no one more free form in radio in LA than Steve Jones.

What is this? The Alternative Cold War?
The addition of Jonesy to KROQ has nothing to do with 98-7 picking up some syndicated shows for their weekend shifts.
As I've seen from some interviews, he pitched around his "radio friendly" show (basically cutting out a lot of the previous elements such as the interviews and playing more new music) to Kevin Weatherly and they decided to give it a shot. Jonesy just wants to show around some of the great new music that's been left off the radar.
It's definitely a way to get some of the former Indie 103.1 listener base to pick up the Sunday night ratings, and get some press, with nothing much to lose.

Listening right now, he's playing a new Black Keys tune. Great to hear him again! Missed him since Indie went under. And I can tell you, the loyal group of Indie listeners I know from the LA area all were huddled around their radios last week and this week to check out one of their favorite shows reincarnated, even if on "the Evil Empire" station. LOL. ;D
