Former WFTV Orlando anchor makes his move to WSB starting Jan 13. He will replace Justin Farmer on Action News at 5 and 11. So does that mean Justin is only on at 6 or will he pick up the 4pm show. So I have so many comments that I cant even make online. I guess Justin was not carrying the weight of his position

Here is the details

The new Channel 2 Action News anchor Jorge Estevez will take over the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts alongside Jovita Moore starting Monday, January 13, 2020.Justin Farmer will remain with Moore at the 6 p.m. newscast and join Wendy Corona during the 4 p.m. newscast.Farmer, who joined WSB-TV in 2008 and effectively took over for legendary anchor John Pruitt, will also be covering stories including politics. Estevez was officially introduced on air at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Seems to be some musical chairs going on at Fox 5 as well. They've got a whole group of new people, including a new anchor for 10PM. Didn't catch her name.

It's a bit surprising they'd bring in people from outside versus hiring from within. My understanding was Alyse Eady from mornings was always hoping to move into a prime time anchor role, which didn't happen this time.

If you remember Justin "inherited" that 6PM slot from his father, Don Farmer. This may be only one instance of nepotism at WSB. (I understand up North, it is a fairly common practice.)
I worked with his father in the early days at CNN. And before that I remember seeing him doing the ABC Sunday night late news when I was a tech at an ABC station in the late 70's.

Actually his father retired from the station in 1997 and he was doing the 5pm news. Don been off the 6&11pm since 1994, when John Pruitt came back to WSB after years at WXIA.
I do wonder if this has to do with the station being sold to Apollo in conjunction with Cox Media. Jorge was very popular at sister station WFTV, but it would of behoove WSB to keep Justin on at 6/11.
Makes one wonder.

Thanks for the correction.

I sure hope all those people down there have contracts.
Often, when a new company comes in, they cut overhead where ever they can, in order to service the debt load.

Courtney Bryant; she just joined from WGCL's sister station KMOV in St. Louis and has succeeded Cynne Simpson (who left awhile back to do humanitarian work somewhere). For the last few months, WAGA had Marissa Mitchell and Portia Bruner playing tag team alongside Russ Spencer.
