Jorge Rodriguez

First, I'm in shock that it's been three days and no one has written about him. Secondly, & I guess most importantly where does he end up?

I think they got rid of him because they want to get to Neil for reasons only they can understand. Where will he end up? There's a lot of out of work radio people asking themselves the same question these days.

I'm guessing it was purelly budget driven. It's going on everywhere. 790 has basically replaced it's mid-day lineup with syndication and their PD. I listened yesterday...I actually think Flea sounds pretty good with Neil. At the end of the day, whether it's Jorge or Flee producing, it's still the Neil Rogers Show. And it gives Neil plenty of material!

Steve Lapa at WFTL is said to be interested in Jorge.

I wish Jorge all the best as he deserves it. But Steve Lapa is notorious for getting newly-fired people on his payroll for one cent on the dollar (Jorge please don't stoop to that idiot's level).....and still the three WFTL's are still the laughing stock of the radio industry. Two of the WFTL's have great signals (850 & 640) which are wasted on bad canned programming (especially 640).

The production on Neils Show has niticably dropped. Therein lies Jorge's value. I know some nationally sysdicated shows that could use Jorge like Laura Ingraham or Dennis Miller.... Jorge don't settle for pennies..

Agreed. But honestly, if Neil isn't kevetching then his show is not interesting anymore. Jorge actually put on a better show when Neil was out. And, this for someone who's been listening to Neil Rogers for 25 years.

Neil is spending allot of time on Jorge today... openly says he thinks dropping Jorge was Beasley's way of trying to force him out. Neil says he ain't leaving.

Apparently they are looking to invite Jorge on the air for an interview... With Joe Bell's blessing.

Goodbye Jorge party is in the works at the Hard Rock... Friday 5/22 from 4p-7p at the Hard Rock Cafe. Jorge Rodriguez will be there. Sounds like it could be a good way to spend an afternoon. No word on whether or not Neil Rogers will be there.

Check this... PPM pre-currency comes out Thursday, so at least there will be plenty of conversation for radio geeks!

funny thing, at 1:06p today, the feed with Neil was lost... the poor Producer (Flea?) sounds lost and confused... wow! Not exactly something you want to have happen when PPM is the new method of measurement... can't count on folks simply writing down that they listen to Neil... folks will actually tune out if the talk host is uninteresting... and thus far, this guy is.

to be fair... he probably is very interesting, i just have no idea who he is... and i'm in no mood for giving him the benefit of the doubt.

God doesn't like ugly WQAM. Karma is a BEEOOTCH! (as Jorge might say)

I'm out!

So Jorge met with Steve White, PD at 790 The Ticket yesterday...

I wish I could make in to the Rock Rock. Best wishes Jorge. F Joe Bell. You could always move to Jax or Pensacola. They would love you there.

Yeah, I've listened to it. I don't get it. The guy comes off like he is too good for his audience. I don't think he'll have success. He is just not in touch with the audience. Neil was a different case. He would yell at the audience and hate them but he did it in a charming way that made you like him more.

Jorge is a different case. Good luck to him but how bout putting on a good show.

PatSaintJimmy, I disagree.

I've been listening to the new show and it actually sounds pretty good.

Joe is getting a show Jorge said from he would do a show from 10a-12p, and there will be a new show from an unamed host starting in August.

From the Sun-Sentinel:

Spirit of Neil Rogers lives on with webcasts

Jorge Rodriguez and Joe Castello, alumni of Rogers' recently canceled show on WQAM (560 AM), stream live on weekdays through their website, SoFloRadio.com. Castello is on 10 a.m. to noon and Rodriguez noon to 3 p.m.

Jorge's show has gotten better over time. Joe's show is more topical compared to what he used to do (given that 'QAM is a sports station).

I'm glad to see them do this....the net is a perfect place for new, non-traditional, cutting edge programming. I've listened and like what they're doing. The question is, can they support it through advertising? Time will tell.
