Jorge Sedano to WAXY-790 The Ticket

Report: Sedano Gets WAXY/Miami Slot

Heading To WAXY
FOX SPORTS RADIO overnight host JORGE SEDANO is joining Sports WAXY-A (790 THE TICKET)/MIAMI for a midday show, reports the MIAMI HERALD.

SEDANO tells the MIAMI HERALD's BARRY JACKSON that he will be leaving the FOX overnight show in a few weeks and is also leaving his MIAMI HEAT studio host duties at crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WIOD-A to take the TICKET slot but will continue to do fill-in on FOX, which airs overnight on the TICKET.

Nice move for WAXY

Big pickup for WAXY I will miss him on FSR overnights on XM 142. I guess I will now put on WFAN on the CPU and listen to Tony Paige.

For those of us who first heard this wet behind the ears kid at the old WAFN 1700, then found him at 940 Fox, then finally the big payday, HEAT pre and post game host on WIOD while doing the Fox network thing (on a competing station - how weird is that??), it's kind of exciting to see Jorge "come home." Although really, I thought the HEAT/Fox network gig was as cool as you can get. Will Jorge become host of the Panthers post games (not!)

Jorge, we love ya and look forward to helping 790 kick the old folks station (560) in the a**.
Congrats.

kick 560's a**? Not so fast Faraway. Jorge will be up against Neil so don't expect any miracles.

Understand Sedano is a good guy and all but keep in mind this is a business first and foremost - ratings and sponsors make it happen. QAM has the edge in both.

I got no horses in this race, but i think, overall, both stations are examples of grossly overspending to under-deliver. Still, for QAM to have the heritage/longevity, the slate of market icons as hosts and only have an "edge" is pretty pathetic.

Where's 954 when you need him?!?!?!

Reads just like out of the Star Trek franchise......"WQAM (AM 560) vs. then-WFUN now-WAXY (AM 790): The Next Generation"

Rick Shaw versus Dandy Don during nights during the first go-around on which station's the king of Top 40 in South Florida, NOW it's Neil Rogers versus Jorge Sedano in middays to see what station's the king of sports and talk!

The parallels of this are screaming too loud to be overlooked!!

He sounds pretty good. I don't think he feels as comfortable taking the calls as he did on Fox. Granted callers to national shows will be screened harder & have a bigger pool. Outside of the calls I think the show sounds good. More of him less of them? Any thoughts?
