Not exactly a total shock. She's pushing 70, a newlywed, has her first grandchild, and built a nice bank account thanks to 15+ years on The View. I always got the impression she enjoyed the celebrity interviews, but sensed some disdain for all the tabloid stories, pop-culture babbling, and empty-headed reality-show guests. I doubt anyone outside of Nancy Grace gets big bucks @HLN and there are dozens if not hundreds of talk-show-host wanna-be's out there who are one-third her age and will likely work for a pittance just to get their break.

Interesting too that Joy's exit is happening concurrently with CNN's staffing cutbacks. Not to suggest she was pressured to leave. Still, I can imagine the scene; she's waving goodbye while CNN execs are standing by holding the door open.

You got to love that PR spin, they fail to mention that she has the second lowest rated prime time hour on the network. Liberals just don't understand that folks do not want to watch their schtick on TV or listen to it on radio.

If you use the typical definition of "Prime" as the 8p, 9p, and 10p eastern slots, then yes. She's also the second-highest rated program, being behind Nancy Grace and ahead of Dr. Drew.
