JP Allen local producer of the big philly show on Wired 96.5 is leaving the station to join Tingle in Atlanta. is CBS Planning a relaunch? Because Wired just change their Slogan To Philly's New Hit Music just like their sister station in Boston 103.3 AMP Radio! Is that a hint?

It wouldn't surprise me that CBS morphs Wired's branding to match the rest of their CHR stations. Whether a full rename to AMP is eminent, or if they think the "Wired" brand still has legs, that's yet to be seen.

But if they're tinkering with Wired, it looks like they want to try to give it more time, instead of flipping it outright to KYW-FM

It's not clear what CBS is doing or has been trying to do with either the purchase of Wired or the attempted purchase of 106.9. Many of us assume, and in my case hope, that CBS is trying to bring KYW to FM. That's seeming less likely all the time. I am starting to believe that since CBS can't bring news (WINS) to FM in New York, then Philly isn't getting it either.

The KYW stategy is about maintaining and improving brand value in the next several years. The AMP strategy seeks to keep a younger audience from departing radio altogether and to maintain FM in the longer term.

KYW does face competition from other media. Maintaining the brand allows you to drive people to the KYW brand on other media. It is not clear how important that is to CBS.
