Buffalo JP done at WECK?

By deleting a Facebook post? Why bother even airing the program if he's concerned about backlash and if the host has quit? None of it makes sense...
Having horrible comments on your station Facebook page for 5 straight days is preventable. The post should have never been put up

Having the show air is another thing. You don’t get posts for everyone to see. We may get a few emails, but that’s it.

And yes, JP quit because owner took post down.

"Just saw a Facebook post from JP that he is done with WECK..."
Any previous posts referring to this issue are no longer on JP's Facebook page. It's mostly music-Beatles-McCartney related. The guy has a solid track record in Buffalo with 10 years at WPHD and 28 years at 97 Rock. He's well-known and established. Might Townsquare have any interest, especially if changes are ever considered at WBUF?

,,,, to you. But you have never owned a radio station.

But you have never owned a radio station.
Irrelevant whether I have or not. An owner gave his permission for his employee to have a local public official as a guest. However, he balked at it being promoted on Facebook. Owner removed the post and employee quit for that reason. Sounds like two erratic minds to me.

Facebook is inundated with bizarre and vitriolic comments everyday. Just look at any TV stations Facebook page. ANY story they share immediately gets comments that veer into political crazy land...

False, as usual. Owner did not say to post on Facebook.

Owner agreed to have County Executive on as a lifestyle segment in the show.

TV stations do news. Opinions are all over the place. They even expect it. Again, owner did not give permission to post on station social media, especially knowing that WECK has the most INTERACTIVE FB page in Buffalo radio.

The owner knew that such a post would give listeners the opportunity to post negative comments for 5 days. He did not want that, thus he only wanted Executive on the show where the effect of any negative emails are both private, and can be remedied

Bolt, let’s go back to third grade so you can understand. Owner did not want a FB post up on station page. Employee put the post up. Nearly 28 negative came within the first 20 minutes. Owner, who did not know post was even up, was told about it, pulled the post, and without any other conversation or knowledge, employee just quit.

There you have it.

You cannot assume the people posting the negative comments are listening to the station anyway. The number of "Likes or Dislikes" on Facebook never translated to ratings. WECK has the most "Interactive" page?? They probably also have the most people who still use the printed Yellow Pages. Facebook isn't exactly hip anymore.

I agree that the employee should not have posted without the owners consent. Quitting a job over it seems juvenile.
I also find it hard to believe that an Oldies listener or advertiser would boycott a station over something so trite.
If it's acceptable to put on the air, then a Social Media post shouldn't matter...

Facebook isn’t hip anymore? Ask a 50 year old.
But is a 50-year-old considered hip to a 25 or 30-year-old?
You go back to whatever the hell you do, and WECK will continue to go on being the number one rated AQH 12 + Nielsen in the entire U.S.
In the "entire U.S."? WECK in Buffalo, N.Y.??
What about WLTW, New York? Or how about WHTZ Newark, N.J.? What about KOST or KBIG Los Angeles, CA?

Whoops. You are correct. Top rated OLDIES station in U.S. sorry

Or maybe the top rated AM oldies radio station in the US

Not even that Most of the WECK listening is to its pod of translators.

Well, it SEEMS as if JP has indeed left WECK. He's no longer listed in the Personalities section on their website, and Roger Christian is currently handling at least the noon-3pm shift; I'd say, hell, give him the whole 9am-3pm shift. He used to do 5 hours or so daily on 102.5 for many years.

That is correct. AM station. WECK is the top rated OLDIES AM in the entire U.S. Average Quarter Hour share. Not bad for a 1KW station. Also remembering that in the latest Nielsen book, WECK cume is only 10k away from WBEN 12+.

Our agency, which is in WNY works with WECK a lot. We know the owner very well. He is a very good guy, and cares about radio. His station is also a great value for our clients.

In purchasing Albany radio, the top stations have ratings no higher than a 4.9 share. Buffalo is a good radio market, and it is definitely behind the times. In Miami, I am not sure they know radio, especially AM exists.

I do not think the WECK owner is stopping at WECK. We just purchased his new digital billboard on the 290 at Delaware st. exit.

JP left WECK because owner pulled down a divisive political Facebook post that was not approved to be posted. There ya go.
