JRL

I listened to those podcasts and JRL is going to bring all his current bits over to this 5,000 watt station that is close to his home, his girlfriend was very happy to hear the news and the stations part owner and on air talent was super excited.

Kind of small time sounding station/host the 2 of them called everyone in town including the mayor to announce JRL was hitting the airwaves on the station.

Good luck John, will be listening to "Into the 70's" when I can.

He did say on the podcast that a radio stations wattage is unimportant now~em~days because the stream go clear to bangladesh.

I wish I could hear him on the AM I guess I will have to stream......

Streaming is the best way. The station is very hard to hear north of Chicago.

They have a question on the webpage as to whether listeners want JRL to move to 3 to 6 PM. While I think it is a good idea, it would displace the last two hours of the Hannity show. While I like Hannity, I think it is important for a local station, like WIMS, to have local shows at least in the AM and PM drive slots.

Acutally, this move by JRL is not so outragous as it first appears. First, that station is right on the lake. I'm guessing that a lot of Chicagoland would recieve the signal. Second, A LOT of Chicago people spend their summers in and around the Michigan City/Indiana Dunes area.

In one of the interviews they replayed today with JRL, he said he didn't want to do another Chicago gig.

I'll bet he'd do another Chicago gig in a second if one was available.

Sounds like it will be.

Yesterday, he was talking about his days at 'LS, and how music radio has drastically changed from then to today. I think he is very happy being on the small station that is close to home. I'm not sure that one will hear him full-time on a major stick anytime soon--other than his two part-time jobs.

I guess you could say he's semi-retired and doing something he likes.

Oh JRL show on the big 89'er today, 60 minutes with Turi Ryder, State of the State with Judy Baar Topinka, Landecker & Landecker, Amy & Johns granddaughter live in studio.

No mention of a Major Address to the Nation®
