At the shore today, noticed the ACE is gone from 102.7 and the music sounded really good, no chatter, just good rock, so much better than ZXL and the old ACE. Now on 1340, this station continues to amaze me with their never ending selection of "oh wow" oldies they even put XM-60's to shame, I say great format bring it to Philly on PEN.

PEN had their chance, but insisted on handcuffing Jim Netleton's programming efforts. Played home to good talent too, like Christy Springfield. That ship has sailed.

The old adage "when life deals you lemons, make lemonade" fits well here. When WYSP dumped Rich Desisto and canned the Scotty and Alex show, the braintrust at former access1 did well by hiring these guys. You can tell by the on-air product, quality programming-moving forward. I think Rich is doing well as PD, WMGM and 102.7 are sounding great. I understand Scott Riley (sp) is taking care of the music duties at JSE, sounds great guys. Both of those guys are class act radio guys

Although I totally agree that both Rich and Scott are very talented... I know that Paul Kelly is a part of this team and he is a programming wiz, so the timing of the changes seems suspect... I'd have to say that Paul more than likely had plenty to do with the incredible change in JSE....

102.7 'JSE Rocks

Wow I have been streaming WJSE and it seems they are leaning back towards Alternative Rock.....They are now calling themselves 102-7 'JSE.....The last time I heard 102.7 The Ace back around July 4th they sounded terrible boring.....Hopefully they will revert back to the way they used to sound when they were "Digital 102.7".

WHAT? Yes, Paul Kelly is part of the station now. But that wasn't until just recently...maybe a month and a half ago. The changes at both stations started before the buyout. Although i agree with you, Paul Kelly is a good programmer, his experience is Hot AC/dance or whatever you call wayv these days. So any changes to the programming with his hands I would say is suspect here, the station was getting tighter long before Paul Kelly and the boys bought part of Access1. Paul Is a really good radio guy/; I would be comfortable asking him for hair gel tips and what the top 10 dance hits are, but not what he thought of Rock in any form. He was Tommy G's MD for years, then took over for Tommy G as PD, that's got to be at least 14 years working the AC scene at WAYV. Good programmers, imho...Hire guys who know the formats, inside and out...let them run with the ball and win.

- I just wanted to register because the person that posted above me needed to be called out. He has absolutely NO IDEA what the F he's talking about. There weren't ANY changes going on before the buyout. Whatever drivel he posted it's completely inaccurate.

Have a great whatever!

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. WAYV has never ever been a dance station . It has rarely played any dance music with a few exceptions over the years.

OK and obviously I dont know how to get the quote in the box...lol..Anyway simon you're totally wrong about WAYV being a dance station and definatley underestimate Paul Kelly's skills...

You obviously weren't listening then.....Nicky G FIRED...change....Desisto hired...Change...Music tightened up...change. Funny, this post is about how jse sounds better, yet you don't hear it. Even the midday cafe on MGM has stopped flying all over the map. Try listening, then comment..you will sound less dopey. :p

Okay, WAYV..Ac or whatever...I was NOT cracking on Pauls skills as a programmer, he's proven his skills programming an AC station. But if he was applying for a PD slot at a Classic rock station/Alternative station I doubt he would even be considered. Again, Pauls a great radio guy, which I stated in a previous post. He owns a piece of the pie, so he can do whatever he wants. I think the group sounds tighter, if yyou don't thats fine too.

I have no problem with the statement the MGM started to change before the new owners... that is true... but JSE was still the "Ace" until about a week ago... and it's not that I don't think Scotty had a hand in it.. but he was there before the new owners, and now there's a change... I don't know of any other PDs being hired... so maybe it's a combination of the new owners taking the leash off and Paul's programming skills...

What a difference a year makes...this station sounds fantastic!!
