JT The Brick out at KNBR 1050 ?

This might almost be old news since it appears to have happened a week ago, but it looks like KNBR 1050 (San Francisco) has made a change in their 7pm-11pm slot. All last week it was some ESPN show, but their website now lists "The Tony Bruno Show" in that slot- presumably to start this week.

Pretty ironic, given that JT will no longer be in the city of the football team he works with- The Rrrrraydahs. With so many of his callers coming from the bay area, I wonder how that will affect his show...

Not only is J.T.(don't forget Looney) out but also all of the Fox programming for ESPN.
Brick is on in well over 200 stations and has the backing of Premiere. In this economy with stations going under every 15 seconds and other hosts out of work, I wouldn't worry about him.

Don't you worry your little bitty self, Dealy-yo. I know that the Bricky has vast real-estate holdings, a mansion overlooking the ocean, and multiple personalities to defend him. Does he realize how fortunate he is that your vigilant, if not disgusting, defense is expensive? I would expect you to be well-paid, even if the soul you sold was not worth much in the first place.

And who could ever forget Looney? What a thing even to suggest!

Huh???

Well, I liked JT for his enthusiasm, but his politics were really getting in the way of his show. At the same time, it will be nice to have Bruno back- and I think he'll do well in the evenings.

I wonder why 1050 decided to go to ESPN and dump FSR? FSR wasn't so bad.

JT is fortunate Premiere gave him a new deal, but when you're not on in LA or Sf, 200 crappy little markets don't really mean much, do they? Ads sales can't be good when you lose what was supposed to be your main market in Frisco? At least he has a job.
btw..ESPN is paying 1050 to brand it an ESPN station, Premiere didn't want to pony up the cash and ESPN isn't buying radio stations, just bribing places like SF and Philly to call themselves "ESPN" for a boatload of cash.

If I'm reading this right, ESPN is on both KNBRs: 680 and 1050 - and 1050 has the apparent "must-carry" Mike & Mike and Cowherd. But having ESPN Radio on two 50,000 sticks in a top-5 market? That's a bit odd...

When you are the only game in town as is KNBR, you can pick and choose and Fox and Sporting News have no leverage because they have no shows that people really want or rate. It's obvious that JT the Brick had very little impact despite being a Raiders honk. His is the most cleared show on Fox Radio and they've dumped his show on 1050 at night to pick up Tony Bruno's show which has no network ties. In this new economy, stations won't just take crappy shows that have no impact or generate no ratings or revenue. Fox and Sporting News are both pissing in the wind as neither one can force any station to take them, except the desperate stations in cities that have multiple sports stations. KNBR is the rare exception and calls the shots over all of these shows and networks.

Wrong again hater. KNBR/1050 loved his show and carried it for over a decade. At on point he was on for 8 hours a day. ESPN bought their way into this market and that is why this move was made just like in Philly. When ESPN can't get on in a top market after several years, they buy their way on to an existing station.

reading comprehension must not be something you learned Mr Real Deal.

I explained ESPN bought their way into SF, but Bruno's show isn't part of ESPN and if KNBR loved the Brick, they would have kept him on at night, right?

Why did they take his show off the air if they aren't running ESPN programming in that slot?

Being on for 8 hours "years ago" doesn't mean much now cause he ain't on anymore!

radio hater:

Your lack of knowledge of the radio industry is astounding.

Fox Sports Radio and JT the Brick are not small players compared with ESPN Radio. Fox Sports are partner with Clear Channel, and JT's show is clearly one of the most popular radio personalities. (he is syndicated nationally, only one of the two or three recognizable voices in nighttime radio).

Tony Bruno is the one who is luck to get a job. How long was he out of a job? Like almost a year. If not for his close tie with Gary Fatnich, he wouldn't even be back into KNBR's rotation.

By the way, KNBR is sure calling the shot, but that doesn't mean it is not a crappy station. Contrary to what people believe, they switch to ESPN not because Fox Sports is worse, but simply is they are actually paying less for the programing. KNBR sucks and gets lazy; the only reason it is surviving is because ignorants gofus like radio hater is still listening to it.

For once, let me agree with radiohater. overnights are irrelevant. Especially in this economy.
There is simply very little revenue in that slot. Bragging about 8 trillion affiliates, is silly. Who cares. Mike and Mike in chicago, or 'the herd' in L.A. have more listeners, than all of bricks affiliates combined. Thats a ratings fact.
I have the national ratings for every talk show in the nation, J.T. is simply not a factor.
For the record, the PPM's have not been kind to Rome.
