-imho is almost unlistenable. Gahd Romey wannabees make for bad radio. But is caller-driven the only way to do a night-time show?

I wouldn't say it was awful; I like JT but can't stand the callers- which most of his show is comprised of. Its the same problem with Jim Rome; I like the show until the calls start coming in.

War no more calls in sports radio.

I like listening in small doses. As a Red Sox fan, I enjoy hearing him
lament the state of the currently struggling Yankees. He likes callers to have a high
energy level--not the type who "put you to sleep" but of course the high
passion/energy level can be a bit much. Rowdy sports fans (and yes,
that dedication is part of being a fan) who deal more with emotion
than serious talk about what's going on with player X or team Y.

The difference is JT's IQ is about 100 points lower than Rome's. If you enjoy JT, more power to you, I just think he's an uneducated troglodyte.

I like when people call and say "What do you think about this trade?" Or on a local show when someone calls flossing their sons athletic abilities while pretending to not know the kid - "Man, you have to get out to see that Marky Mark kid play, he is the real deal and I hear he has offers from some big time school". I remember hearing OJ Mayo's relative call a local show in Cincy when the dude was like in middle school or ninth.

Personally I don't like JT in general. My first few experiences with him were sports updates and I absolutely hated how over the top it was, just awful fake BS.

Leebo reposting threads from 2005 proving that JT and Looney have never been better. Since that orignal post from almost 7 years ago Tony Bruno has lost 4 jobs. This is great. Long live LOONEY!

I can't stand the scripted callers who call into both Rome's & Brick's shows, the minute I hear a caller and I can tell they're reading from a script I change the station.
There's no spontaniety, a hallmark of fandom for those listeners, not to say I want to hear someone stumble on their words, but when it's obvious that someone wrote a script and is reading it is just a turn off for me.
You know it's a scripted call when they start firing off quips and references rapid fire, there's No way they can be doing that off the top of their head otherwise they'd have Brick's job or something similar.
The scripted thing gets perpetuated on Rome's show with the "smack off" which to me is basically who can write the best script for Rome's show.
As for Looney, he's a good update anchor but when he has to ad lib and not be on script he's just awful!

Seriously Leebo. Just stop listening to him. For peaks sake man, you pulled a message board post from 2006 that prefers Sedano (who's hasn't been at FSR for years) over JT.

It's not healthy my good man.

And if not for peak's sake, please do it for Pete's sake. ;-)
