Judge Judy Signs New Deal

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/ar...s_New_Multiyear_Deal_with_CBS.php?rssid=20065

Judge Judy Sheindlin has signed a new multiyear deal with CBS Television Distribution to keep Judge Judy on the air through 2015, it was announced Monday.

Judge Judy averages 10 million viewers in its 15th season, and is the top rated daytime television program. Judy overtook Oprah in the ratings during the 2009-2010 season, the first time it was surpassed in a decade.

"Judy is in a class by herself," said CTD President John Nogawski. "For 15 years, she's delivered one of the highest-rated shows in all of syndication. She's at the top of her game, and we're excited to be in business with daytime's #1 star."

Judge Judy has been the top rated half-hour syndicated court show since its debut in September 1996.

"I am thrilled with the opportunity to continue this exciting second career," Sheindlin said. "The confidence and support CBS has shown in our program has been steadfast and very much appreciated."

It's People's Court (Judge Wapner version) Jerry Springer style. :p

My mother watches her. I would not say that it is really similar to Jerry Springer because, the people are not getting paid to show up in Judge Judy's courtroom, as far as I know, and defendants have to fork over cash up front in case they lose. It is hard to imagine that some of the people who appear in her courtroom actually manage somehow to make their way through life.

I never will understand how anyone can make a complete and total *ss out of themselves, on syndicated TV, by revealing their self-serving ignorance, deceit, avarice and complete disregard for decency or intelligence, with their poorly planned, half baked twisted versions of their side of the case.

On Judge Judy and other court shows, the show pays part, or all of the judgment. So the losers are compensated, by the fact they get money to be on the show (usually small amounts like $100, and a daily cost allowance), when the judgment is given it comes out of a fund.

Well, someone has to be right, and someone has to be wrong, I guess.
Televise two WRONGS...and that's also very much priceless!!!

I love it when she says in a nice calm voice..."Okay...you did this..." then she catches the other person by surprise and yells "BUT YOU DID THAT!!! YOU'RE BOTH GUILTY!!!!!"

Priceless!!!!

ive also heard that she picks the cases out of a database or something, and you go on and have to make it look good as they say!! and they pay it for you like the previous poster said!!

If in fact that is the case, let us hope that public shame still works if the guilty party does not have to pay. Otherwise there is no point to our American system of jurisprudence. The guilty party can just go out and perpetrate another wrong against somebody else, and there will always be someone there to catch them safely when they fall.

They may as well bring in Steve Wilkos as the bailiff! ::)

THANK YOU! :D ;)

That was my point. People's Court with Judge Wapner was an entertaining show where you played judge hearing both sides to make up your mind as to who should prevail. Judge Judy is Judy yelling at both parties making the whole thing about her. And with her picking cases purely for (trailer trash) show just proves court shows are just Jerry Springer in a courtroom. :p

I don't care who gets paid, I just know anyone who watches gets served. :-*

There is only once court show I watch and don't watch it regularly. People's Court with Judge Marilyn Millian. (sp?) I'm not always home at 1PM or awake at 230AM.

My dad (may he rest it peace) liked to watch Judge Judy, but neither myself nor my mom can stand her. My mom is happy she no longer has to watch Judge Judy.

NEWS 8 WTNH (ABC) is the affiliate in Connecticut. Primary Run at 4PM. Secondary Run at 430PM. Sister station MY TV 9 airs Judge Judy weeknights at 7 & 730PM. The program guide for both XFINITY and COX list the episodes as the same ones that aired 3 hours earlier on WTNH, but they're not the same. They're older episodes. (Unlike Dr. Phil which has the same episode on both WTNH and MY TV 9. 9AM on the former at 6PM on that latter).
