Judge Roy Wakely

I am just curious if anyone in this room may know if the judge is still around?

I worked with him before he hit it big at WUBE...he was my PD at WCLU 1320 in 1972.

I don't...I don't believe I've spoken with him since late 1972.

I haven't talked to "Mr. Bradford" since '88 at Beaver 96 1/2. Can't help you, but somebody find out...a super guy...The Judge.

That would be Roy E Bradford if memory serves correctly. As an on air rookie, I made the mistake of reading from the transmitter log & proudly announcing that Roy E Bradford was coming up at 2PM on WCLU.

Rumor is he's living in the servant's quarters at Irv Schwartz's house in Montgomery. He was seen shoveling snow and doing yard work. Every week the UPS truck arives with boxes of papers from Rick Swartz's law office which Wakely runs thru the paper shredder as part of his duties. He also drive's Irv around. You'll know its him when you see a guy with a tee shirt which says, "Midwest Time Sales".

I remember as a sales manager at UBE, trading out a set of dentures for the the Judge.
That cigarette/coffee addiction while at WCLU probably did his real choppers in.

the judge my uncle died 2 years ago, but i still remember on our birthdays the happy birthday and a song on the radio. i met a lot of famous country singers compliments of roy and wclu i enjoyed when count baltus and the cool ghoul would came to the house with the judge on holloween.if anyone has any old wclu or ube tapes of the judge i would like to buy a copy for my kids thanks.

Sorry to hear that...R.I.P. Roy...

The judge was my dad. All I have is pictures of him if there is any audio out there I would love a link to it or copy. I am from his second marriage. I was born in 80, he worked for WuBe then the beaver then the rebel before he retired. He was close to the Count I remember him and his ca r from when I was a kid.

I don't know how we got hooked up with that goofy, Count Baltas.

Baltas had a traveling horror show appearing at skating rinks and parks, he actually had a record out which I can not remember the name of the song.
I was professionally made up to look like the wolfman. I had an iron brace around my neck connected to a chain/leash that the Judge would lead me around like a dog. The judge was the host and announcer of the shows while he was trying to control the wild Wolfman and introduce Count Baltas. If you don't him he was a traveling 'vampire'.
I remember a show at Castle Skateland and we opened up for Uncle Al at Beverly Hills Supper Club. What a strange time in my life!

There's another question. What ever happened to Clement "Sonny" Baltes...The Count.

I know The Cool Goul past away a few years ago. Dick Von Hoene
(spelled the same but pronounced "Hane" on the air and "Haney" at home)
