Judith Leblein returns to WCTC

I just heard an on-air promo today... Judith Leblein will be returning to 1450 WCTC, beginning Monday, April 3rd, in the weekday afternoon 2-5 PM time slot, which is currently occupied by the syndicated Clark Howard and Jerry Doyle shows. With this change, WCTC's weekday schedule will once again be all live and local from 6 AM to 7 PM.

And it seems WCTC is finally distancing itself from the "Central Jersey 1450" moniker created by Jay Sorenson during his brief and ill-fated stint as Assistant Program Director. The new logo on their web site once again brings WCTC's historic call letters to the foreground, with a new moniker that I don't particularly like either. A few years ago, they used the name "The Talk of Central Jersey"... what was so bad with that one?

Another thing I don't like is that the new logo is uppercase... for as long as I remember, WCTC's logo has always been lowercase, just like WMCA.

Think they'll bring Mary Walter back and pair them up together? I'm kinda kidding, but it would be a smart move if WCTC could afford it. I'm glad they're getting rid of the syndicated shows. Local radio is what makes WCTC unique; they should stick with it.

Judith is horrible. If they want to to make money they need to spend money. Put someone like Jay Diamond on in the afternoon who will draw listeners and get rid of Bruce Williams in the evening because he's old now and showing it on the air. Time to pack it in for him or put him on overnight and get rid of that stupid UFO Art Bell program. Carry Tom Lykis maybe, take a risk or somebody interesting and fresh sounding. Maybe Max Kinkel who's doing great talk on WTBQ and who was on WEVD. At 11PM carry Alan Colmes a TV icon these days who people relate to and who's also on WWRL and can't be heard in central Jersey instead of Jim Bohannon another bore. Believe me if the PD did this WCTC would be a good talk station once again. Besides Ellery the station is a waste of the air waves as far as I'm concerned. After 10 AM I shut it off.. Even in the evening no local news and 2 minutes of national news followed by 3 minutes of PSA's. I have to turn to another station to here 5 mins of world news, then on top of that the board opp who can't talk can't even hit the network at 06. In short a horrible formated station and poor local news at night. Everyone I talk to in the listening area has nothing good to say about there local station.

Leykis!? LEYKIS!?!? On WCTC?!? Are you insane?!??!?!?!?!

Leykis was an ABYSMAL failure when he was on WNEW. Not only that, you can't carry Leykis live on East Coast Drive.

I'm not sure what demos CTC is trying to attract, but if it's women, there is no shot in hell they'd carry Leykis.

I have to agree with Pookie. Alan Colmes could do well though. And I don't think CTC is trying to attract women only. I think they're a local station that should concentrate on local programming. Talk about things pertinent to the local audience, something with substance. The shock jock route of talk wouldn't fly there.

Bruce Williams may be old, but he has a pleasant personality and his show is a rarity these days: honest, real-world advice that's not a scam or thinly disguised infomercial. Plus, he's a WCTC veteran; in fact, his show is one of the few parts of WCTC's programming lineup which has remained unchanged in the past decade.

On April 13th, I got to hear Judith while traveling back to Delaware from Statan Island. Both my wife and I really enjoyed her show. I get so sick and tired of the political nonsense that this program was refreshing. Basically like sitting around a table taling with someone. On a related note, what is the WCTC web site address?
