JULIE'S INJURIES WORSE THAN FIRST SUSPECTED

She's undergoing an operation this morning to repair 2 broken vertebrae in her neck. That's considerably more of an injury than a gash to the head as the news kept reporting. Get well soon!

PLease Keep Julie in your prayers. She is a great person and one helluva traffic reporter.

I know you stick to family, but shame on FOX for the 'Really Crilley' shot. Chip and his family, happy-go-lucky gestating in front of a lit TV waiting to birth the news that 'EVERYONE' is all right. Now Mike hits us with this.

Man, I could cuss... but you know, the hall monitor and all. Safe to say, this blows. All the best to Julie.

Hang in there, Julie. We're pulling for you. :)

Hey Mike, I am not sure that her family really wanted that info revealed...

From KRLD's website:
"She had a bad cut on her scalp and was taken to Methodist Hospital in Dallas but her family has instructed the hospital not to release any information about how she's doing."

Hope she feels better soon.

Ms, that may be true, but I would hope Julie understands the compassion. Shoot, in this biz... we need all the corporate prayer we can get.

Julie called KVIL that afternoon and revealed the above info that Mike posted. Gene & Julie replayed the next day so I don't think posting something that was aired twice is a problem. I do wish her a speedy recovery. On a side note... Why doesn't Gail Lightfoot fly?

I think that is true, jeff. I heard her on again this morning. I think her family is trying to keep things on the lowdown but she wants to talk about it more when she feels up to it.

BTW, from the front page of the lite fm website you can email Julie your get-well wishes. They are printing up each message and taking them to her at the hospital daily.

KRLD YESTERDAY afternoon announced she was undergoing surgery to repair the vertebrae. They even included her talking about it, so lay off Mike. Those who are her colleagues and friends are concerned and would like to know. We may be competitors in this business, but when something happens to one of our own..we are all family.

I had no idea of her or the family's wishes when I posted that. There was chatter about it around the office early Tuesday, but with no caveat of privacy issues ever mentioned. A friend and fellow board poster emailed me late Tuesday morning to give me a heads-up about Julie wanting to keep things mum...the 'modify post' opportunity had passed, so I emailed the board moderators to have the post deleted, but to no avail (they did respond, to their credit, but would not remove it.) I thought I was merely providing an update on what was going on, especially since so many folks were concerned about her and Chip and the pilot. No harm was intended, and Julie certainly didn't need anymore grief right now...so my deepest apologies if I overstepped bounds...I didn't know. She and I always chit-chat when we're waiting at the terminal to fly, on those days that I go up. She's a great gal, and I wish her the very best and a speedy recovery.

Hey Mike, I think the "family wishes" are the public front. I don't think your posts were/are a problem. I don't think she'd be calling in to G&J and Leigh Ann if it were otherwise. It's cool!

Agreed.

Don't worry about it, Mike. If the "family" really wanted to keep it hush-hush they should have made some sort of public statement requesting for no release of any details, or something like that.

Thanks, guys, for the support. However...according to my friend's email Tuesday morning (after the fact,) he said that the family had asked the local media outlets not to broadcast that piece of information. Again, that was unbeknownst to me when I posted it. I would guess the reason was that Julie was going in first thing Tues AM for neck surgery, and there might have been a bad prognosis had things not gone as well.

I did feel some relief over this today when my chiropractor told me more details about the story than I even knew! Including the surgery part.

Mikey: If KVIL aired it as well as KRLD,then it reached a wider audience than here on the boards,so quit beating yourself up. Its okay. Now I think we can all agreed we will respect her privacy.

Yeah, what he said! :)

Y'all wanna talk about my broken arm incident? I'll gladly discuss it. ;D

Did I not cover this issue thoroughly and properly? Metro Traffic operations manager Max Miller took this issue up with my boss by phone this morning, saying that my boss needs to have better control over his employees and what they post on Radio-Info. My boss properly informed Max that what I do on my own time is my own business. You know, I don't even know Max, I think I've heard him do traffic on KRLD before, and I'm reasonably sure he doesn't know me or anything about me. I don't believe any of my posts attacked him or his operation.

If I haven't made this clear over the last 7 years I've been posting on this board, let me set the record completely straight: My opinions and my postings are my own, right or wrong, appropriate or inappropriate, whatever...and not on behalf of my employer or anyone else. You don't have to like it or agree, and I wouldn't expect you to. This is a free exchange of information, and thank God the constitution guarantees us this right. Max, I have an email address, and you are most welcome to take up any issue with me there. [email protected].

You know, this isn't the first time someone has gone over my head to get me in trouble at work over a post on Radio-Info, and it probably won't be the last. Silly me, I'm just going to keep calling it like I see it, UNDER MY REAL NAME, and anyone is free to correct me, shoot my opinion down, call me a moron, or, God forbid, agree with me. It sure beats being too timid or scared to hold an opinion and to stand by it.

Agreed Mikey. Max should concentrate more on ending his"cigar" snorting habit and stinking up elevators, than call on someone's boss to have him fired for an opinion the individual expressed ON HIS OWN TIME. Good lord,it reminds me of talk shows, where divergent opinions and FACTS are not allowed.
