July 18: This Day in TV History (another DIY edition)

I also could not find a July 18 TDITVH thread from Stanislav from last year, so it looks like to keep the tradition going, another DIY thread for tomorrow is in order (feel free to add to this too).

A few July 18 birthdays to start:

1934: Darlene Conley (d. 2007)--born in Chicago, IL. Best known as Sally Spectra on "The Bold and the Beautiful." Also appeared on "Young and the Restless," and in many other guest roles on shows including "Cagney and Lacey," "The Jeffersons," "Little House on the Prairie," and "Murder, She Wrote."

1940: James Brolin--The husband of Barbra Streisand was born Craig Kenneth Brunderlin in Los Angeles. His numerous credits include "Medical Center," "Hotel," and "Pensacola: Wings of Gold."

1960: Anne-Marie Johnson--born in Los Angeles. Her TV credits include her best-known role as Althea Tibbs on "In the Heat of the Night" (1988-93).

Also on July 18:

1986: A KARE-TV (Minneapolis/St. Paul) helicopter has a chance encounter with a tornado--the storm is broadcast live on the air as a result.

Funny - I thought Brolin was on Marcus Welby, M.D. - while the main heart-throb on Medical Center was Chad Everett.

Yes, you're right--I meant to say "Marcus Welby, M.D."--that's the bad thing about realizing my mistake after the correction window on my original post has expired . . .

While looking up the Sept. 9 TDITVH, I found that Stanislav had indeed prepared a July 18 history thread. With apologies for bumping this thread two months afterwards again, here's the link to Stanislav's original July 18 thread from last year that I missed in July (thanks to the search engine being down the last few months).

My DIY thread for July 18 also has been bumped in case you wanted to have any further discussion on it . . .
