July 20, 1969 Moon Landing question....

About NET, my guess would be that they did nothing. For one thing, a solid percentage of their affiliates wouldn't have even been on the air at that late hour. Many were on only part of the day.

And given the time of the year, some of them were off the air all summer long, and wouldn't be back on the air again until school started again in the fall.

At that time, WMSB-TV as well as WTVS 56 Detroit's NET/PBS outlet was on during the summers . When WKAR TV returned on 23 in 1972, which gave WILX-TV Channel 10 all by itself, they were still on during the summers as was WTVS. We stopped getting WTVS in 1979 when HBO came to BattleCreek along with ESPN, C-Span and USA. Also, for a time, in the early 1970's we had WTTW 11 CHicago's PBS outlet, this was dropped in 1974 and WGN-TV came in.
