July 2011 numbers are in

Not sure why they separate WRXP and WEMP, as well as moving the monthly history to the bottom despite the higher PPM numbers.

InsideRadio is reporting that for the first time in its 15 year existence, WKTU was in July #1 among the important 25-54 age group.
I wonder whether it is unusual for a rhythmic station to be #1, or if this has occurred in other major markets.

Maybe talk radio listeners in NYC were smarter than we thought? WNYC-FM is now beating WOR for two books in a row.

Very interesting about KTU and Z100, quite an impressive combined position there. I'm still kind of surprised that NOW hasn't made more inroads. And why is KTU still being listed as rhythmic AC? I just don't get it.

Fresh had a higher cume than CBS-FM...

And from what I understand, Fresh is really cleaning WPLJ's clock outside of morning drive.

The only reason that 'PLJ still exists it because of Scott and Todd.

A couple of stations I'm looking at; WWPR-FM has a slight edge over WQHT by one-tenth of a point although Hot 97 has been consistent in having a 3.0-plus ratings share. I'm curious to see how August will turn out.....I want to see if the new morning show on Power 105 will help increase ratings over time, or if the familiar voices at Hot 97 will regain ratings.

Another thing I wanted to point out; Nice to see 92-3 Now FM get above a 3.0 ratings share after struggling to get there the previous two books. But they need to better themselves in order to even have a shot at challenging Z-100 or even 'KTU

I guess CBS-FM is down a bit with a 4.9 near a 5 share. As I mentioned before, "Fox Oldies" at 98.9 in the Hudson Valley listening area didn't do any better in the spring book with a 1.6 when it first signed on the air back in late February. I prefer "Fox Oldies" over CBS-FM since it was an oldies station from 1972 until 2005, WGNY will have a few listeners from the old CBS-FM that we knew and love since the 80's and 90's when Joe McCoy was still around with those great sounding Frank Gari jingles from many years ago since it was an oldies station.

Now they're stuff whatever they like from the 60's through the 80's with a little bit of 90's thrown in. I hope CBS-FM should add the 90's in the future with artists like C+C Music Factory, MC Hammer, Celine Dion, Cece Peniston, Vanilla Ice, Natalie Merchant, No Doubt, Oasis, Green Day, and the Rembrants who had a big hit "I'll Be There For You" which is the theme song from "Friends", it is a classic 90's song, but it should be adding to their CBS-FM's playlist in the near future.

As of right now, WGNY's "Fox Oldies" is still playing older music from the 50's just like the old CBS-FM did years ago, but "Fox Oldies" is getting to old to play pre-Beatles songs on that station. If you don't want to hear it, don't listen to CBS-FM, try "Fox Oldies" instead. That will keep you company. There is a link to listen to "Fox Oldies" anywhere. Check it out!

I think "Rhythmic Hot AC" is probably more accurate for KTU than "CHR" - their target is 25-54, and they put year-old songs in medium/heavy rotation

Methinks different ownerships is the reason for the split.

New call letters, new format. That qualifies for a hard reboot, where the historical numbers are not averaged in with the new identity so that time buyers will not be presented with the problem of deciding what a current buy delivers.

Not so fast!! WNYC FM probably had a greater TSL (time spent listening) than WOR , but WOR was still ahead in the overall cumulative audience. (this month WOR had close to 100,000 more listeners who were tuned in to WOR over WNYC FM albeit for a shorter period of time.)

Hot 97 and Power 105 usually take turns outdoing each other every single month. I've seen it virtually every single ratings book/PPM period for the last several years. These stations really play each other tough.
