july 2019 ratings

A couple observations on July's 12+ numbers, from a non-industry insider. 1) KYXY has grown dramatically from two months ago; I believe 5.2 is their highest number in years. They've tweaked the music mix to include a better variety of 80's-through-today, and personally I think they're sounding better than ever. 2) Longtime country powerhouse KSON continues a downward trend, 3) Classic Hits KXSN regains the #1 spot from KPBS-FM, 4) Alternative Rock KBZT vs XTRA-FM were neck-and-neck for years, but KBZT has now pulled away pretty convincingly. Moving those Padres games over to The Fan probably helped a lot, and 5) Why is KARJ (Air 1) listed in the ratings, but sister station K-Love (with a far superior signal) is not?

I'm surprised KYXY is doing so good, too. Because that call sign has been around since the 1970's. And I wanted them to change to Q96.5 to keep the history of "Q" in San Diego going (think KCBQ, Q106, Q96). Oh well, maybe some other time.
