July numbers are here

July numbers: Radio Industry News, Radio Show Prep, Radio Promotions, Radio Station Data, Podcast News

(Radio Insight not updated as I type this)

Sunny brightens upward.

Surprising plop for KLTN.

Country Legends drops a bit.

SportsTalk 790 now well ahead of 610. Not good sign for 610 given the planned signal downgrade.

Meanwhile a huge Gowch for KFNC which is barely alive with a 0.1. Gotta wonder when David Gow will pull the plug.

And TUDN lays a huevo.

It doesn't happen every year, but ocassionally in past years KLTN has had drops like this around this time of year and quickly bounced back shortly after, so I'm assuming they will be fine in a book or two.

While 25-54 and 18-49 are much more important than 6+, it's still interesting to note KMJQ's return to being the #2 station in the overall numbers, a return to form for a station that had been off for the past couple of years. Elsewhere, KBXX has a nice rise of 0.4 to achieve a near 4 share, and KQBT at the very least manages to rise by 0.1. Slowly but surely, Urban radio may be returning to normal in Houston.

An interesting development for KBXX and KQBT, considering that in several markets, like in New York and Chicago, Rhythmic CHR/Mainstream Urban is not doing as well. Furthermore, neither KBXX nor KQBT have Houston-based hosts for the morning hours.

On the other hand, KRBE is in a slow decline in the beauty contest ratings, with KHMX squeaking past by to #12 (tied with KQQK). Granted, we haven't seen the lucrative 25-54 numbers, but there are only a handful of PPM markets where the only CHR in the market is well outside the Top 10 in 6+.
