July numbers

Is there an easy way to know which station, WSB or WSBB, has the higher number of listeners?
Nielsen gives stations that run a smulcast the choice of combining them all in "single line reporting" or having them listed separately. Naturally, stations want to have all of the simulcast partners combined.

A single line reporter can obtain a breakout. But it is natural to keep it private.

Kiss 104 has moved clearly ahead of V-103. Will V-103 ever recover?
And on a similar not much better in the metro than WRDG 105.3, which is why it’s not exactly easy to blame their failure on the signal.

A lot of heritage stations owned by Audacy seem to be struggling or losing to competitors.

Not Atlanta, but look at how they have essentially destroyed the big country stations in Phoenix and Houston; particularly notable is the dead camel in the middle of I-10 in Arizona.

Actually those two stations in particular were struggling under CBS ownership. I wouldn't blame Audacy or Entercom for what's happened at either of those stations.

I just saw that KMLE had its best cume in almost two years last month. I also noticed that KILT beat KKBQ for one book in the last few years, and it was in November of 2020.

Lite FM and Power 96 are getting their rears handed to them in Miami, too.
WLYF and WFEZ are pretty much tied if you do rolling averages; each bounces up and down a bit, but they are fairly equal.

Power abandoned its Tanner/Miami heritage and ceased to be a rhythmic Latino flavored Churban. It's now a plain old Top 30 in a market that is the epitome of rhythmic.

At least Audacy can still count on the success of CBS-FM and 1010 WINS.

The Beach is also becoming less distinguishable from other classic hits stations. Good that Lite FM isn't low-rated, but I'm not sure if adding more country and pop rock tracks than before in Miami is a good decision, especially if these tracks were played very few times, if ever, on Sidney-era 101.5 Lite FM or even the old 97.3 The Coast.

KILT was neck and neck with KKBQ up until they changed PDs and "uniformized" the format early last year. In fact, it had some winning months in the target demos. Today, KILT is not in the Top 10 most of the time in the target ages while KKBQ is in the top 3 or 4.

The issue in Houston is more the difficulty in evaluating ratings at all. Nielsen has not been accredited there for a long time, and they had enormous panel issues beginning before the pandemic where proportionality of the panel, as well as total panel size are unacceptable. Now, one country station averages over the last three months at 16th in 25-54 and the other is at 20th!

The KMLE cume differences in 18-49 and 25-54 over the last 24 months are less than +/- 1%. most of the time.

Looking at a June/July average for KKBQ, it was 5.3 in 2018, 4.0 in 2000 and is now a 3.2. KILT was 3.6 in 2019, 3.9 in 2020 and is now a 2.7. August is turning out to being the lowest month KULF has seen in nearly a decade.

Obviously, given the horrible panel issues in all markets and the very low PURs during the first 8 to 10 months of the pandemic, evaluating April to December of 2020 is risky, particularly in HOU.

But...but...but...David Field touted Entercom's research chops when announcing the CBS Radio takeover! LOL

Completely agree with your remarks regarding Power in Miami.
