July PPM's

Well, damn. Will WDAS just keep skyrocketing until they're in double-digits? Frankly, no, but they're on a helluva ride right now (6.8 - 8.0 - 8.5). WMMR is enjoying a rather similar trajectory (7.4 - 8.2 - 8.4).

There's quite a lot of stability in the book, with many stations barely moving one way or the other from last month. This includes WBEB, KYW, WBEN, WRFF, WTDY, WUMR (for what it's worth), WPEN, WRTI (again, for what it's worth), and WPHT (again again, for what it's worth).

Not included in that stability would be WDAS, WHYY (5.5 - 5.4 - 4.3), WXTU (4.6 - 4.3 - 3.8), WUSL (2.6 - 2.8 - 3.6), and WPPZ (settling back to their comfort zone after an up book).

WEMG-AM (1.3 - 1.0 - 0.6), for those keeping an eye on it, may be feeling a little pinch from...oh, I don't know...some other station.

Something called WXHL-FM has registered a 0.1 for the last two books. Aside from being labeled as a Gospel station owned by something called Priority Radio, I have no idea what they are or where they're from. I just happened to notice them down there because I don't think I've ever even seen those call letters before!

I think it’s interesting enough people are listening to B101’s HD-2 classic rock station to register in ratings especially when there is another classic rock station (WMGK) that can be tuned into easily without an HD radio and has local well known air talent.

It takes very few meters to earn a 0.2 share.

I would bet that WBEB-HD2 received a quarter-hour credit from fewer than 10 individual meters in the ratings period, but that one or two meter holders listen pretty faithfully.

In fact, if you are a subscriber just one quarter hour one time in a week gets you a "courtesy" 0.1 share.

But B101’s HD-2 station was the only HD-2 station to register in the ratings. With over a dozen HD-2 offerings in Philly, that is what I thought was interesting. Even the promoted Bob Pantano WOGL HD-2 didn’t make the listenership/meters cut.

Just curious then how it works when a station receives some listenership/cume, but DOESN'T receive the courtesy 0.1 share?
If a station is not subscribed, it does not appear in the public 12+ AQH share and cume reports. Subscribers get that data, of course.

In either case, it is immaterial. No advertiser who buys based on ratings will be buying anything with just a 0.1 share.

WRNB has to have among the lowest beauty contest numbers for a full-power, commercial station. Probably only the Mix 95.7 of old (WMWX) is worse.

Demo rankings for 25-54, 18-34 and 18-49 for the Top 5+ stations for 6/23-7/20 (scroll down for Philadelphia):

25-54: WMMR, WDAS, WOGL, WMGK, WHYY, WBEB, WUSL, WXTU
18-34: WBEB, WMGK, WUSL, WMMR, WIOQ, WDAS
18-49: WMMR, WDAS, WBEB, WMGK, WUSL, WOGL

Just amazing numbers for WMMR; that is a truly special radio station.

5 share lead in A25 to 54 and 4 share lead in A18 to 49 over second place WDAS.

It’s a whole different thread, but Mix 95.7 was…something else. Not sure what it was exactly, but it was something else.

Then came Ben and a relative period of quiet stability.

Minus Greater Media adding and subtracting air talent here and there and occasional tweaks to the playlist... BEN has been on the level for 17 years now. Impressive in an era of "try something and flip again if it doesn't work"

WBEB is sounding more and more hot recently. I was at the office and they were playing Heat Waves by Glass Animals. That might explain thier strong 18-34 ratings

Admittedly, I only scan the dial during extremely short car rides but, if anything, B101 has sounded softer to me since just about the day The Breeze subsided. Stuff like Cocker/Warnes and all that.
