June 28, 2006 - U.S.A. WCBS DUMPS IBOC, RETURNS TO "HIGH DEFINITION" AM

DAVID WROTE: "A nazi is a believer in a particular form of government, of which the German implemetation was one...Facism is, simply, an authoritarian and nationistic form or right wing government."

To set the record straight, Hitler's party called itself the National Socialist German Workers' party. In German the party name was Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. Members were first called Nazis as a derisive abbreviation.

And the Nazi's in Germany were just one kind of fascist.

If this term is offensive, please explain the "Soup Nazi" to me.

Forgive me, what does this have to do with HD. Ths is why there has to be an involved moderator. This board is being destroyed, unfortunately

Somebody who can not look at a very simple table and tell who is the #1 station in LA is definitly challenged. Since I can not, in respect for the rules of the board, give the numbers themselves, I can only cite an example: if two runners do the mile in 3:58, and that is the best time, neither came in second. Both are first, and tied. Same thing in LA. It does not take a lot of smarts to see that the tow stations at the top have identical 12+ numbers... so they are (both) #1.

DAVID WROTE: "And the Nazi's in Germany were just one kind of fascist."

You missed my small, but important point. They were National SOCIALISTS. It was even in their name - the National Socialist German Workers' party. Last time I checked, socialists lean LEFT.

"National Socialists" did not lean left. National Socialists were the exact opposite, if we get around the fact that they were also using hatred and bigotry as a rallying point. The name was made up to ally nationalists and all flavor of discontents in post W.W. II Germany, and had little if anything to do with Marx and Engle's version of socialism. They were fascists, and that means that they were anti-liberal and conservative in the early 20th Century meaning of the word... fanatic nationlists against internationalism.

From wikipedia: Nazism is the ideology that was held by the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, commonly called the NSDAP or Nazi Party). The word Nazism is most often used in connection with the government of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, also known as the "Third Reich." In terms of ideology, Nazism combines racialism, nationalism, anti-Semitism, and anti-communism, and draws from a variety of other sources.

The key here is ANTI-COMMUNIST which also means anti socialist. The appearance of the word socialism in this context has nothing to do with the ideology called socialism. Nazis were virulent anti-socilists and anti-communists.

In this case, the term does not have any leftist meaning at all.
