June 3: This Day in TV History

1992 Presidential candidate Bill Clinton gives his famous impromptu sax solo on
The Arsenio Hall Show

Tim from Springfield said:
2010: Sadly, we say goodbye to actress Rue McLanahan (Mama's Family, Golden Girls), who passed away at age 76.

Let's not forget that McClanahan also appeared on Maude, where she first worked with Beatrice Arthur. Rue played air-head next door neighbor Vivian Harmon (think Rose Nyland). Conrad Bain (later Diff'rent Strokes) played her husband Arthur, who always argued poltics with the liberal Maude, as her Republican foil.

I thought I'd bring that up in case one of the celebrities-dying-in-threes types wanted to propose some weird 'one-degree' of separation thing with Gary Coleman's death.

An event in weather history occurred 30 years ago today that inspired a book and made-for-TV Family Channel movie, "The Night of the Twisters" with John Schneider (1996):

1980: A massive supercell thunderstorm spawns a family of seven tornadoes in and near Grand Island, Nebraska, killing five people while injuring 200, and causing $300 million worth of damage.

The National Weather Service office in Hastings, NE has a page devoted to the 30th anniversary of the Grand Island disaster, with more information on the storms:
