June PPM Ratings.... at last.

Before I dive into what I saw, and try to entice you to check this out. Usually on the ratings release day, NY, Chicago, LA, and a few other cities PPM ratings come out usually around 2pm, and Detroit's (along with lots of other cities)comes out around 5pm. I have no clue what happened here, or maybe Detroit's ratings came out a day later, but I do remember seeing July 10th as the release date. Anyway, surprises up and down the list. First off, as a constant basher or AMP Radio, I have to give them props. two months ago, they were at a 2.8. They are now at a 4.3 share, and on 96.3's heels. Human Numan is covered in baby oil probably. WYCD-FM is probably heading towards an 8.0 share(7.6 in June). WOMC had a nice comeback to 5.3 and over 1 million in cume audience. In the Hip-Hop battle, WJLB gained some ground on 107.5, now having a 4.8 share compared to 107.5's 3.7. In all, Radio One took it on the chin as 105.9's ratings continue to drop, and 'JLB gained some ground. Speaking of dropping ratings, WRIF and WCSX are both under a 4.0 share(101.1 3.7, 94.7 3.6). and also, for all of its flaws and criticism on this board, Fresh 100.3 is technically better than 105.1 as it concerns what we saw in the ratings. Fresh 100.3 3.6 1,080,600 cume, 105.1 3.6 but an cumulative audience of 951.700. So, now that we have all seen the ratings for June, What did you see? any replies are welcome.

Sounds like 98.7 Amp Radio is making some noise overall. I'd be interested to see where they go from here, even though I'm not much of a 98.7 Amp Radio fan.

Also, it seems Detroiters like country a lot, even though Detroit is more of an urban market.

Agree with the remark on country, although that format is probably the most mainstream of any today.

From this, it appears that AMP must be pulling in kids from their I-pods. I cannot see at whose expense they are making this jump. I thought this was the weak portion in CBS Detroit's portfolio but they are doing well here.

Clear Channel continues to misfire expect in the Urban format and that's only because of the strong heritage that WJLB has. The new CC market manager has his work cut out for him.

WJR has recovered from Rush Limbaugh's spring troubles. Both cume and AQH are higher.

WMGC and WNIC are coming closer. No surprise as WMGC seems to be trending toward a similiar playlist to WNIC.

Market seems ripe for a country competitor and a true Soft AC station. Not much else on the horizon IMO.

I will say that I am shocked that AMP is so inconsistent. CBS Radio markets their stations very well, and you would think that would help them out. umfan, I agree with you. a true AC station could be another idea for a Detroit station, or maybe 105.1 switching their music direction says all you need to know about AC. I still think an Rhythmic AC/EDM/Dance format could work here, but the problem may be that there is no station to put it on without some second-guessing.
