Jury Still Out on Whoopi?

Isn't her show syndicated? If so, they're probably looking at the larger picture of having her in market #1 to woo national advertisers, regardless of whether or not the ratings in NYC itself are less than stellar.
 
There is only one problem. Whoopi refuses to promote the show in any way. She has made it clear that she wants nothing to do in getting the word out about her program. Ever heard anything about the show? Most folks don't even know what station it is on. It is frustrating both the on air talent that woks with her and the company that syndicates her show. I think the program could do well if anyone knew it existed. Why she is doing this no one understands. It's as if she is afraid of failure and simply is playing it that way.

Is that really the case? On my way home every day I pass by a large billboard advertising her show and KTU, right off of the Whitestone Expressway heading north just past Shea Stadium.
 
I can only say what I reported here was told to me by one of the on-air talent from the show. A billboard? Wow, first ad I've seen for it. It's not a bad show, just no one knows it exists. I was embarrassed to have to ask what channel it was on when this person told me of the frustration recently. So I gave it a listen.
 
Her numbers in Chicago are terrible. WLIT was a top 5 station until she arrived. They are now 15th and falling. It will be interesting to see what todays trends say about her there.

I don't know if it's fair to blame Whoppi for WLITs drop in the ratings. For the last several years they have had an excellent Fall book (Christmas music) and then tank in the Winter. This has been going on long before Whoppi was part of the station.

That being said, my cousin who lives in Chicago told me she dislikes Whoppi so much that she went from being a loyal WLIT listener to never listening to the station at all. That's just one person though.
 
The Lite's 25-54 share after Christmas, the winter book, was a 1.5! Their Christmas numbers are NOT what that radio station is about and every advertiser knows it. Their experiment with an all female line-up isn't working. I do know that Whoopie was forced on them by CC. I wonder why she isn't good enuf for Jim Ryan and WLTW but ok to boot a hugely sucessful morning show in Chicago and trash their reputation and ratings?
