While I still have not principally been listening to the radio lately, earlier this week, while out and about, I heard both Mix and Big 103.
While in a car, Big 103 played the following including/but not limited to:
Picture-Filter
Summer of '69-Bryan Adams
A fairly recent Rhythmic/Rap song that I cannot quite recall what was ght now.
Tom Sawyer-Rush
Bad Girls-Donna Summer
While still quite varied, it does seem as though Big 103 is leaning to leaning toward more "recent" Classic Rock. I put that it quotes, because obviously the songs are not new, however I am not so certain that these are titles that either of the true Classic Rock Stations would play. Definitely not Filter anyway, and while possible, not very likely to have Bryan Adams on their roster either.
Then there is the Donna Summer song. I really am not aware of any other station in the immediate area (at least the ones that I can pick up in my locale) playing any 70's R&B or Disco at all. I wonder if that could be a format hole that maybe one day filled again?
Speaking of the 70s, I overheard Mix 104.1 playing "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac during their morning show earlier this week also. Now, best to my human memory, Mix never played 1970's Fleetwood Mac during its entire history. Even when they were Rhythmic leaning Pre-Modern/Hot AC. The last tune that they had by them in a regular rotation was "Landslide." So, just wondering how these ripples keep affecting Boston radio in general.
