Just a couple of things

1) Tim Benz is nowhere to be found on the 1250 website. Anyone with more to add?

2) Adam Bomb has left Miami. Any leads? Could he be coming back to Pgh.?

Tim Benz last day on 1250AM ESPN was last week. He is suppost to be starting on the X and fox sports in the next week or two. tim Benz on fox sports will be going up against Mark Madden in the afternoon. It will be interesting to see who wins the battle there.

As far as Adam Bomb goes, I'm not real sure if he is coming back to Pittsburgh. I wouldn't be surprised if he did, because I know he does like the burgh a lot. If he does come back to Pittsburgh radio, what station do you think would suit him well?

Don't know if this is the same guy, but there is an "Adam Bomb" on WAKZ, the KISS station in Youngstown.

Now, I don't know if he is/was voicetracked from Miami, or if he has returned here, or even if it's the same guy.

Adam Bomb--the Pittsburgh one--used to visit the old Radio-Info, but I haven't seen him around for months.

He is still listed on the Y100 website as being a DJ there. Several months ago he posted on this forum that he was also doing work for the Ohio station that Johnny mentioned.

If he returned to Pittsburgh, the only format that would suit him would be CHR. I'd love for him to replace Bonics on 96.1 Kiss. Maybe they're considering him now that the ratings are down.

Seeing Bonics kicked the crap out of Adam Bomb, why would he replace him with someone that lost not only to Bonics but 3 voice tracked shows from other markets and a video store clerk?????

Adam bomb never won in Pittsburgh! (sure radio people think he's great but, he gets no listeners) So let's move him to Miami where he didn't get any ratings.

Look for Adam Bomb to be on fulltime nights in Youngstown (market 100 something.) This is more his speed. Maybe he can learn enough in a smaller market so he can get better (and get ratings) But then again Hot in youngstowm will give him all he can handle.

I didn't realize that he did so badly here. :-\ I used to listen to him every night and liked his personality. What listeners see in Bonics is beyond me..... ::)

Yes it is. CHR is a female targeted radio format.
If if the Jock is really doing their job. You (a radio guy) won't like it. You shouldn't understand it.

So yes Dave, it is beyond you!

"CHR is a female targeted radio format."

What's more, there is only one CHR station in town. So, people who want to hear Contemporary Hits have two choices. They can tune in the only CHR station in town, or they can pop in a CD.

Because of that, does it really matter all that much whether the DJ is all that good or not? The worst DJ in the world would still be the best CHR DJ on the air in Pittsburgh. It ain't all that tough to be #1 in a one-man race, is it?

Then please explain to me why kiss isn't number one 18-34???

Because their programming is substandard, and the listeners are realizing that.

broken jaw did you used to work over at cc or infinity that you know all about who kicked who in the ratings? I used to sell for the the first(now in tv sales) and I can tell you a bit cause I saw first hand what went on. Bonics did not kick the crap outta Adam. Neither did the rest of the voicetracked world that had on at night. How many jocks, voicetracked or not did kiss go through, especially at night? might take a while to count that. kiss won the teens race but after that it was back and forth between B, kiss, the x, wamo. A lot of times Adam kicked the crap outta whoever they had in at kiss. on a side note with B94 gone for 2 yrs now kiss has only gained about a share in the market. Obviously those listeners didn't flip to kiss. B had a 3.3 or so. Can you say Ipod and "hell no they don't fill out diarys"? some of those teens now are in the 18-34 bracket and from what you and others are posting about that demo they aint diggin kiss anymore. And to say that he would go to Youngstown, a market he tracked is out the window to.. why would cc have something voicetracked? To save money.. there not going to hire someone live when they can't even pay them. Thats the whole point in voicetracking. More his speed? don't think so. He was good here and in Miami and wherever he ends up he'll be even better. He went to miami because he was good and he went rather quick. Just more than radio people thought he was good. There's your edgimication for the day. Now back to spelling class

I don't know what ratings you were looking at
but I looking at every book right now (I have copies) and yes.
Pike beat Adam
Buckhead Beat Adam
Andy beat Adam
and YES Bonics beat Adam
I have it all right here in black and white.

It's nice that you are loyal but Adam Put on the act that he had the “number one night show in Pittsburgh” but just saying it on the radio doesn't make it so!
and you WILL see Adam at Kiss Youngstown live. (I have the miami ratings too)

PS. I will go to spelling school if you go to "how to read ratings" school

Exactly!!! Just because one targets a given market doesn't mean one hits the bullseye. According to those 18-34 year old females I speak to on a regular basis, the song selection on Kiss doesn't float their boats.

In almost 50 years of talking to other radio listeners about to music format radio, I've never heard anyone ever say "I don't like their music, but I listen to them because I like their DJ." The only exception is morning shows that are more comedy and schtick than music. I have heard people say "I like so-and-so the DJ, but he plays crappy music so I don't listen to him."

One isolated example for you. I always liked Jimmie Roach. I thought he was extremely entertaining. For a long time he was one of my favorite DJ's, from before he teamed up with Steve Hansen in the mornings. But when he switched to playing country songs on a country station, I stopped listening to him.

To be more accurate, I think its more an issue of:

The station Pike was on beat Adam's station
The station Buckhead was on beat Adam's station
The station Andy was on beat Adam's station
and YES, the station Bonics was on beat Adam's station.

And I say that totally objectively because I've never heard Adam Bomb or any of the other people you've named. But the next time I hear of any DJ "beating" another DJ who had a better station behind him will be the first.
