I'm new to the Palm Springs area and I have a question: While driving around town & scanning the local dial on Tuesday night I heard Eagle 106.9 broadcasting at 106.9 and 103.9 as well. I've heard fm simulcasts back East so I didn't think much of it...until I heard Eagle on 93.7 as well. What gives? Do all the stations in this market shut down after dark?
 
The Eagle, KDGL 106.9 Yucca Valley has a translator on 103.9 Cathedral City. They have had this for decades. It is now not really needed as 106.9 added an on frequency booster on 106.9 in Cathedral City some time ago. Morris is keeping the translator alive as there have been rumors afloat that they plan to ask for a waiver to use 103.9 for a KNWQ 1140AM similcast as over 25 AM stations in the U.S. have done so far. All stations here in the Coachella Valley are 24/7. However, all of the AM stations power down at local sunset so coverage is reduced dramatically (The 3 "graveyard" frequencies 1340, 1400, and 1450 all keep "full" power but coverage is non the less reduced as well.
