I wanted to get something off my chest about a staton that shall remain nameless (this way, even though it's true, it doesn't look like I'm attacking a specific station...I'll be as vague as possible)

A station had a contest where when you're the right caller, you win something, then qualify for the bigger prize. I called in and they answered saying I was the right caller and asked me to hold on to be on the air. 20 minutes after being on hold (I didn't even think it would be that long) I was due in work. I'm sitting in my car on my cell phone. I figured I'd just go in to work a little late...20 minutes after that (40 minutes since I was put on hold) no one came back on the phone to say "You're up next" or "we'll be right with you" or whatever. I had to hang up so I wasn't any later for work than I already was. Later on I called the promotions dept of the station and explained that I was the right caller, I was on hold, and if necessary, it could be proven that I was on hold, or whatever....but that seemed like a stretch, so I said "Can I get something, like a t-shirt" I was told "Oh, sure....what's your address?"

To this day....a significant amount of time later, I still haven't received a t-shirt.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.

I purchased a Boston Globe from their street box and it was the paper
from the day before. I'm still waiting for their 37 cent letter with
my fifty cents. Still waiting.

Civilization, as we knew it, is gone, replaced by Corporations.

You think you DESERVE to win their contest? You think we have
PUBLIC airwaves. Write to the station's PUBLIC FILE and then go to the station to see that the filing is truly there. I'm serious. PUBLIC FILE time if
stations don't want to jump to attention when we post on boards like these.

Now you gotta do your part and sue them over having out of
date papers in that box! Of course they'll protest
contributory negligence because the papers are dated and
it's up to the buyer to read the date before allowing
the box to slam shut. Who knows...you might personally
be able, one day, to take credit for there being more
warning labels on newspaper vending boxes than there
are on ladders! A dubious distinction but perhaps worthy
of a line or two in Guiness.....

If you really wanna get their attention tape a rock or
something to the lid of the box so it won't latch and
everybody after you gets a free paper. Who knows, do
that every day and maybe they'll go bankrupt!

Besides, whaddya expect from the house-organ of a political
policy? Honesty???
