Just a thought...

One used to be able to read on this board about radio stations that played music. Now all the talk is about just that - talk. Is music radio that boring in PHX these days?

Whats their to talk about??? See what stations play the most music an hour? What new national contest they are rolling out this week? How bad their morning shows suck? I do enjoy a few radio stations in town (Peak, Energy, Mega, Kiss) but for the most part normal radio is boring. You can get your songs, any gentre, any era from ipods, satellite radio, online, etc but to get real entertaining radio where are you going to find it in phoenix?? Talk Radio is where its at!

Speaking of this topic, was hillarious to hear Leykis ripping KGB in San Diego a new one when he was on their website and listing off the last ten songs they played. Is pathetic what music radio has become.

I personally have a love affair with iTunes and KTUH out of Hawaii. Speaking of Energy, what do you think of it lately?

I think finally Energy has tapped into what they do best. For awhile they were unsure whether they were New Dance music, Old Dance Music, shoud they sprinkle in some hip hop etc. I think now they have the right balance of new dance music product and some classics as well. Whether you like him or not, Pistol Pete is Enerertaining in the morning (also loved his gay man on the street segments the other week on Free FM's Colin, Steffani, and Dead Air Dave show). Rod Carillo has beein in the dance music biz for quite some time and he knows how to do it right. For what its worth, I think it is great that their company has invested so much time into this format. Who would've thought a station that started pumping the beats in June of 2002 would still be going strong in 2006!

I'm with you there. I actually think Energy Arizona has surpassed the lifespan of my all-time favorite dance station Energy 92.7 & 5 in Chicago. It is rare to see a station that may not rank high in the ratings be so committed to its music and audience. Kudos to Sierra H Broadcasting for not ignoring its audience and being an "exception to the rule" so to speak in what has become a very boring FM dial just about anywhere.
