John,
The reason that the people work long hours on some days is not because we are forced to, its because we want to. I've never once heard Jay Scott bitch when he used to have to come in at 6am and leave at 6 or 7pm. He did it because he wanted to get the job done and get it done right. I didn't get into radio to get rich, which I am not getting rich now. I do alright and Bluewater gives me the flexibility to do what I want to, as long as I'm doing my job. The worse part of my day is getting up in the morning. After that, its downhill. I've never worked in corporate radio, thank God, even though I've been in the business for over 30 years. Many employees of the local corporate stations are always trying to come to work with us. Sure there are some things that I might do differently if I owned the stations, but I don't. My suggestions are listened to and sometimes are actually put into place. You left because you wanted to talk more in the mornings, but that's not what the owners wanted you to. Like I've always said, if you don't enjoy your job its time to find a new one... which you did. Kandy, Jay, Ben and the rest of us enjoy our jobs. Sorry that you didn't, but you did the right thing and quit. You did the wrong thing and quit without giving a notice.

First of all, I've observed that a huge majority of people who TALK IN CAPS ALL THE TIME ON MESSAGE BOARDS must be lacking in something. Maybe the desire to scream "look at me!!!!" because people tend to ignore insignificant nobodies. While not knowing this John Garrett creep, I must say his lack of class makes it obvious to me that his opinions fall into the insignificant category.
Now, about what I've gathered here is some sort of way that Bluewater stations are raising money for hurricane victims. I'm in Mississippi, and I'm proud of my fellow broadcasters in your state that are making an effort to help out. Also, I've known Terry Barber all his life, and can assure you that he knows the difference between promotion and compassion for others. And, as for John Garrett, let me announce to you that your attacks toward Mr. Barber has now given you enemies in TWO STATES.

Re: RICK AND TERRY

So let me get this straight before i leave all you PROUD BROADCASTERS alone.

According to fox news ( whatever that means)

10,ooo people ( or FOLKS as Bush says ) ARE FEARED DEAD.

10,OOO.

7,000 MORE THAN 9/11. THIS IS THE MOST LIFE ALTERING NATURAL DISASTER IN MANY YEARS.

And Terry Barber is beating his chest because he played some MARSHALL TUCKER BAND ALBUM TRAX and raised some money.

22 THOUSAND IS AWESOME. MAKE NO MISTAKE

but let us not forget 10,000 PEOPLE ARE DEAD-- IT AINT ABOUT STAYING AT THE STATION AN EXTRA FEW HOURS AND PLAYING SOME TUNES DUDE.

Terry-- why dont you brag about how much money you give at church? how much do you make?

Why is it always about WE RAISED ALOT OF MONEY???

Was the money given as an anonymous donatation to the red cross? NO IT WILL BE GIVEN AS A GIFT FROM BLUEWATER BROADCASTING.

IM SURE IT WILL COME UP WHEN THE FCC DECIDES TO REVIEW THE LICENSE--

im sure it wont look bad to the fcc that they RAISED money---

in radio it is always about WHO WILL KNOW WE DID THIS??

how many actually gave money to the cause because they were moved?

I AM GIVING MY WEEKLY TITHE TFN. to the red cross.

HOW MUCH IS THAT?

None of your business!

The reason I said something is because I TOO KNOW TERRY-- and to a much lesser extent --RICK--

HOW MUCH BLUEWATER MONEY WAS DONATED?? HOW MUCH WAS TAKEN OFF THE BOTTOM LINE?

BUSH ASKED FOR A RATION-- MAYBE A FEW LESS TRIPS TO MIAMI ON THE PLANE-- BUT WHATEVER--

HOW MUCH CAR LOT MONEY IS GOING TO THE RED CROSS?

none of my business! BUT I ASSUME -- NOT TOO TERRIBLY MUCH-- OR ELSE THEY WOULDNT HAVE DONE THE REQUEST LINE THING-- AFTER ALL-- HOW MUCH OF A CONTRIBUTION IS IT WHEN ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS PLAYING MARIE OSMOND SONGS AND TELLING EVERYONE HOW GOOD YOU ARE?

IT AINT ABOUT ME TYPING IN ALL CAPS EITHER LANDECKER--

GO AHEAD TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT AT ME-- MAKE IT PERSONAL-- I AM DONE !

I AM FINISHED HERE. THINK ABOUT SOME OF WHAT I SAID. TAKE AWAY THE POT-SHOTS-- AND LOOK AT RICK, TERRY'S AND MY INDIVIDUAL POSTS..

Landecker,

Thanks for watching my back- no need though. I won't go in to our family ties to this disaster... this is not the place and these are not the people. It will be OK- that's why we are who we are.

John,

I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire...

Since you like to weave dissention and misinformation, let me set a couple of things straight... first- for me. I don't have to defend what I do personally with my time or money to help others. If you really knew me, you might think different- but I could care less of your opinion of me.

Next, since you are obviously uninformed- ALL of the money raised yesterday- around $11,000 went directly to the Red Cross... all checks and credit cards went DIRECTLY to the Red Cross....not Bluewater. I don't care if the Red Cross acknowledges us or not...we, as Radio, are oftened dissed when it comes to how much we actually contribute at times. They are more interested in getting Newspaper and TV coverage. During the last Hurricane effort at Lowes, we were there side by side with WSFA-TV and did all day remotes. Guess who got "credited" for raising the money. I hope that Cumulus fairs better than we did. You want to know why the Red Cross wants the Lowes fundraiser? Because Lowes will match the dollars (up to a point) on a NATIONAL level that day. You want to know why WSFA and Cumulus are doing it at Lowes? Figure that one out yourself.

How much money did Bluewater give? Bluewater gave an entire's day worth of programming and staff to do this. Oh, but wait- that' a cop out to you. How much money, right? It's none of your slack ass business, but I will tell you that several employees gave out of their pockets- to the tune of over $1,000. How much of that was mine? You just wish you knew.

Oh and glad to see that you believe in tithing. Might want to consult your pastor on that concept. Tithing doesn't call just for your money- it calls for your time.

Re: RICK AND TERRY

terry

i hope if i am ever on fire you would reconsider.

haha

true dat on the time-- YOU ARE RIGHT--

but remember you said kiss my ass first.

dude-- you are a differnet person. or maybe i am. maybe it is because i dont put my faith in people like you anymore. you were once the most respected person i knew. i thought of you as a boss-- as a person worthy of my respect.

now i think of you as a dude-- like a contemporary-- i guess i am getting older too-- because i aint afraid to call radio on its bullshit sometimes--

this PROVES MY THEORY : every man is really a 12 year old boy on the inside.

that goes for me, rick and you.

whatever-- dude-- i dont care -- i chill here and choke my chicken and i will never work in radio again.

certainly never for the likes of you.

john

Re: RICK AND TERRY

>John,

Please don't consider yourself my peer or contemporary...there is a BIG difference....and pray that you indeed are not on fire and relying on me to extinguish you. If you hate this business so much, go away. Got an e-mail from one of your "clients" this morning basically apoligizing for your lack of tack... small bit of advice... this is a very small business. People with mortgages in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I'm done. Anything else you want to say is talking to yourself.

Re: RICK AND TERRY

It's amazing but consistent that the John Garrets of the world inhabit these message boards. Failing in a field, then attacking the successful people in that field in a bitter, jealous, vindictive manner. The profile is the same. "Say what you want, I don't care". "I'm thru". "I'm gone". But they don't ever stop, or go away, as promised. Just continuing the hole digging until there's less and less hope that anyone in their line of work is going to employ them. And what's truly astounding, is they spew their garbage without a shred of thought that someday they might wish to have kept their mouth shut. I hope that creeps like that have rich relatives to feed them when the word gets out of their attitude. I personally wouldn't want them on any payroll of mine.

Re: RICK AND TERRY

God - I HAVE to say something. The idea that a CEO and GM of ANY company in ANY market - BOTH responding to what's being said on a message board, DOES make you appear to be a "B" TEAMER!

I am not taking a personal shot because I don't know you. I have MET you and you didn't impress me at ALL, but just saying - ya know?

So, I guess these message boards are for us lowly peons only? The CEO and GM you feel the need to take jabs at should just ignore immature derogatory personal character attacks from self-serving individuals? I didn't get that memo. Don't know you,Mr. Kramer, don't plan to waste my time MEETING you, either. Talk about unimpressive people!

Re: RICK AND TERRY

John, you're so right. My wife is a former Bluewater employee. She was hired for one job and was ever so slowly given the jobs of about three people, all for the price of a mexican migrant worker. She's now in another market with ONE JOB (imagine that) making more money with less stress and responsibilities, at a company that actually cares about its employees.

I miss hearing you on the air, and I hate that I never got to meet you when you and the wife worked together. You're one of the gems. Don't let anyone else convince you otherwise. To an entire generation of people my age, and I mean this with all sincerity, you're like our version of a Dr. Sam, Birdman, or Larry Stevens. I hate to see corporate, moronic shortsightedness keep you off the air.

Oh I and I saw Al Benn's piece on you in the paper. You got some pretty good digs in there. I pretty much only listen to XM, and that's a direct result of how terrible the Montgomery radio stations are.

keep fighting the good fight.
