Just Curious...

KFWB isn't that expensive compared to FM Talk because KFWB and KNX consolidate reporters (so the staff for KNX and KFWB are the same), so the stations aren't doing HORRIBLE.

As far as KMAX, coverage in South OC wasn't what really mattered, what mattered was coverage in the LA area. Not only that, but the station didn't have any good local sports teams on board (LA Lakers, LA Dodgers, Angels etc.).

And virtually no advertising budget. If you are going to move sportstalk from its traditional home on the AM dial to an underpowered station at the end of the FM band (107.1), you better have some way of letting people know. They didn't bring any local sports teams, major national sports personalities, or advertising to the table. Game was over before it started.

I think Stern would have killed everyone in PPM! His listeners are very dedicated. His ratings on Sirius have been through the roof for years now.

He likely would have dropped immensely. His show is not cume driven, it is TSL. People wrote down that they listened to Howard all morning and the PPM would show things like 47 minutes instead of three to four hours.

There would have been very little cume growth, and since all TSL is very compressed, he would have suffered big losses.

In the PPM world, would Stern still have saved KLSX from flipping today? - of course if were still on that station.

By the way you're one more post away from the big 16,000! Congrats man, lets pop the apple cider open!

But that is the point! People DO listen to him all morning long.

I think if you asked his average listener how long they listen, it would be slightly higher than the average. However I doubt it would be anywhere near the level as indicated under the diary system.
