Branching off from an earlier discussion, I got curious as to how the country stations in SC are using Facebook. Some interesting questions come up as you look at the numbers. Are the larger number of fans for a particular station due to signal strength? Ratings strength (cume)? Forward thinking PD's and GM's? Market size? Focusing strongly on the station website rather than FB? Other factors?
Hopefully, I didn't miss any stations licensed to the state. Here's what I found today:
Station calls/name - market - # of Facebook likes (or friends)
WKXC (Kicks 99) - Augusta GA (licensed to Aiken, SC) - 11,347
WCOS - Columbia - 6,758
WSSL (Whistle 100) - Greenville/Spartanburg - 6,680
WEGX (Eagle 92.9) - Florence - 5,863
WIWF (The Wolf) - Charleston - 5,749
WUBB (Bob 106.9) - Hilton Head - 5,021
WGTR (Gator 107.9) - Myrtle Beach - 2,737
WEZL (Weasel 103.5) - Charleston - 1,876
WESC - Greenville/Spartanburg - 1,456
WIOP (Kickin' Country) - Charleston - 1,083
WHLZ (Wheelz 100.5) - Florence - 424
WSCZ (Cat Country) - Columbia - 221
WYFF (The Coyote) - Myrtle Beach - 212
I apologize if I missed any. Some of the smaller stations (Apple Radio, I-107, etc) have little to no presence whatsoever on FB.
Thoughts?
