What direction do you think 99.7 is going?

If Country. I hope it's leans towards Classic Country.

Someone mentioned Rock. I could see a Hawk or Cool 102 type format working now that Powerhouse WWRX is gone. Also if it is done right. Not like the same 100 songs Z100 played over and over.

My favorite would be FM-Talk. Pick up all the shows WHJJ dropped so WHJJ would be stuck with AA.
I know, Two talkers in the same building. It could work.

Your thought's.

If WSKO-99.7 were to change formats now, the only real format hole in the market is a "Jack"-type format.

But if the format is changed prior to October, the station may still have to carry the balance of the 2005 New York Yankees' broadcasts.

Yes, in theory sister station WPRO-630 could get the Yanks in 2006 to replace the Red Sox (who are moving to WEEI-103.7), but I think there is a Major League Baseball rule that could preclude WPRO from getting the Yankees.

I thought MLB had a rule that no major-league team's radio network could have an affiliate within 50 miles of the home stadium of another major-league team. The exception is if there are two MLB teams with home stadiums 50 or fewer miles apart.

If my intrepretation of this rule is correct, WPRO can't pick-up the Yankees because their "city of license" is within 50 miles (actual distance: 43 miles) of Fenway Park; WSKO-FM could as their "city of license" (Hopedale?) is technically 50 or so miles away from Fenway.

The "Yankees Question" will make any speculation about a format change at 99.7 quite interesting.

99.7 can still carry the Yankees even if they went country if they wanted too. For a year or 2 the Yankees were on a Country Station in Long Island called WLIE 102.5 FM. (They are now AC formatted WBAZ and don't carry the games and they didn't carry them when they were known as WBSQ either)

WSKO-FM could do the Yanks. Their COL is Wakefield-Peacedale.

WORC-AM in Worcester used to carry the Yankees, and I'm pretty damn sure they're within a 50-mile radius.

It doesn't have anything to do with the distance to the ball park ... it's soley based on the station's area of coverage.

I think an FM Talk station is a good idea but what about a talk station in Providene that goes to Males 18-49. Mancow mornings, Don and Mike afternoons, Tom leykis and Phil Hendre nights,John and Jeff overnights, and All Comedy Radio.
