Just got HD radio. First impression

This rocks. ;D I was a little disapointed to hear just as I took ownership that some stations shut HD off :'(
I like to DX as much as the next radio geek and its even more fun when you lock on to a distant digital signal. Very little digital artifacts and the bass pounds. I'm listening in a BMW 750i with the Logic7 system and I swear it sounds better then Sirius satellite radio?
Radio Disney on AM is impressive as well, but the artifacts are just a tad distracting. Just my two cents. :)

In what terms? Audio quality is good. It's nice to actually have some dynamic range in the music again on the HD2 stations (no processing, I'm guessing). The signals are more robust then I thought they would be. WMMO has the best sounding HD by far. The HD2 oldies on 107.7 is kinda cool (not my generation of music, but some nice hits in there). 101.9 has a lot of 90's hits on their HD2. I loved the O-rock HD2, but recently all HD is gone on 105.9 ???

Can't help wonder how well Ipods would have sold if users were stuck with audio drops or periods where the hardware wouldn't turn on at all. Would Ipods be the must have gift for Christmas?

I gotta say, WOCL's HD/HD2 reception has been terrible since it came back on the other day. HD2 has been dropping out longer than it stays locked in, most of the time I've listened. On a similar but no-so-much note, I really really truly wish the Clear Channel stations that don't actually have their HD2 signals up, and never have, would have their recognitions yanked from the national HD radio site. It's been months since they were added as if programming existed, and still nothing from WRUM, WJRR, and WTKS for HD2. Lastly, the only thing I've really been able to enjoy on Orlando HD in general is the FM HD2 stations' lack of commercial advertisements, excluding the WDBO simulcast on HTQ HD2. But in WDBO's defense, it sure is nice to get the programming without the hiss and whirrs here in the Sanford/Lake Mary area, especially overnights, and without having to stream it.

They should, and 101.1 should not say "Now in HD" at the top of the hour, it is not in HD at all (someone earlier said there was technical issues with the equipment at the 100.3, 101.1, 104.1, and 105.1 transmitter site).

Also the HD radio site says that 540, 580, 740, and 94.5 are coming soon.

Supposedly 540 and 740 were building a new combined HD transmitter facility, I do not think it is even built yet.

580 installed HD equipment and tested it over 12/24 and 12/25/2006, due to Cox Radio's engineering people not to turn on any HD equipment due to problems over at WSB-AM when their equipment was turned on originally.

94.5 is supposedly in the rebuilding process of their transmitter site and tower that was destroyed by the Groundhog Day 2007 tornado outbreak. The tower was completed in November and at the time the new tower was completed, only the surviving wall of the old transmitter building was standing, not sure if it will be incorporated into the new building or will be torn down completely.

Daytona is supposed to be added "soon" as well. How soon....I can't say but I am told 95.7 WHOG will be the first HD-2 Station over here on the Coast.

I heard an interesting promo, think it was on KROQ's HD-2 online stream, that CBS was supposed to be launching an "all racing" HD subchannel, and that one of the markets would be Daytona.

Could be HOG-FM HD-2, as you say, or perhaps the HD-2 of an Orlando CBS station....Also thought CBS might put it on an HD-3, since they don't have it announced as an HD-2 format.
