This may sound like a dumb question, but I'm curious what you all think about them? Has the pool changed (and maybe degraded) over time that the winners are selected from? A couple of posters have mentioned the unusual and O.K., shocking fact that ABC 15 has received 46 nominations this year. Good for them, I guess, but I've heard that they flood the nominating board with submittals whereas other stations don't. I do know some of the better news talent in AZ doesn't submit their work because they feel they don't need to, or don't have the time, or whatever. That may be the way it goes and their personal decision, but what does this do to the overall quality and significance of these awards? (I believe this is also true for some other industry awards like the AP.) Does ANYONE believe that ABC 15 has the top talent by far in the RM region? Or even the region's mid-level talent?
What do you think of the awards? Are people being nominated and winning by default from a shrinking and maybe quality-degraded pool?
