Just join the network when the time comes!

Last night "America's Funniest home Videos" had already shown the opening "credits" and introduced Tom Bergeron before my ABC affiliate had even joined them. I'll have to remember to watch the beginning of this episode. Since I taped it, I couldn't just go to the other ABC affiliate (assuming I could get it to work; I got "No Signal" the last time I tried). But normally the show starts right away. This time I had to fast-forward through two commercials and by that time they were already showing one of the three finalists.

No, I don't know what happened. Someone must have counted the commercials wrong. If the previous show was ABC News, that's the only explanation. I have known the station to run local news at 6:30 on Sundays after network news.

Our previous CBS affiliate, WAGA, had a bad habit of joining the second half of The Price Is Right either while a called contestant came on to contestants' row or in the middle of an IUFB description. After their allotment of local commercial spots at the halfway point of the show, WAGA just had to extend their noon news teasers.

A terrible loss indeed.

Assuming I get to see the rerun, this does include a child or children yelling "Tom Bergeron!" And he always has something important to say at the beginning.

And who knows how many videos I missed?

There was a time when this was a problem when there were too many commercials or something. But at some point it seemed they had figured out how to make sure no matter what, got back to the network in time.

Always something important to say....before people get hit in the crotch with tennis balls?

But what he has to say IS more important.

It is true I don't need to see people hit in the crotch. A solution is putting all dog videos at the beginning or after commercial breaks. Cat videos are vital.

Stations in my area, sometimes come back late - including O&Os where switching is done by the networks' servers in New York. Add to that, EAS tests (including in prime time), weather alerts and amber alerts a two hour drive away, "breaking news" which never amounts to much (this week it was helicopter shots of a peaceful protest outside city hall). But the network doesn't care because they never seem to interrupt spots.

It's almost like the networks want to drive people to on demand viewing.
