Just Kinda sad

The Farmville Central Boys are playing in the Eastern Regional finals tommorrow and no station in the Greenville area is gonna do the game.1070 can't because of ECU baseball committments but 1250 or 94.3 should be all over the games. They play in Greenville so there is no travel expense.Someone could have gone to Farmviile and a few Greenville businesses with Farmville ties and made a nice little hustle by doing the games. If you had told me 10 or 15 years ago this would be the circumstance and no one would do the games I would have laughed at you.Alot of people can't go to the game because of other committments and again you wouldn't get rich but a station could have made some dollars because of the senimental buys. It's just an example of local radio forgetting the mom and pops when in this case they would and could afford to buy some ads.To me that is just a little hard to grasp but I guess I'm just too old school but the small business dollar the last time I checked is the same color as the big boys.I just think its kinda sad.Go Jaguars!!!!

1250/930 carries HS football every Friday night during the summer/fall. It's not like they don't do local stuff.

Between 94.3, 930, and 1250, we have a LOT more local programming on the dial than we did a mere five years ago. Did you ever think you'd see local news at the top of the hour in Greenville? 94.3's doing it now.

Yeah they do football some and some news but that wasn't my point.A potential state championship in Farmville is a big deal.Eastern Regionals finals are big deals.
The crowd at the games last night was big. This was an event a local station should have covered.Maybe somebody will if Farmville plays for all the marbles. If they cover a regular season game of the week, they should be all over the playoffs.

Yeah, I guess it is kind of surprising that Pirate Radio didn't pick it up. To be honest with you though I haven't even heard about it outside of this thread. This area has a strong bias that if it isn't football or baseball, we don't care. That could come into play in this.

Does anyone do HS basketball on the radio here?

Wasn't there an ESPN Radio network a few years back that did games?

A few years ago there was 1230 WLNR/Kinston, 1250 WGHB/Farmville and 97.9/WRUP Bayboro as a network. They were all simulcasted as ESPN radio.

I believe the ownership went into bankruptcy and all of the stations were sold off. Pirate Media Group was formed and bought 1250 first, and as a result were briefly simulcasted on the other two until sales were arranged.
